Wow look at this beauty . ell it was.
I have been asked to sell this on behalf of a friend. really fancied it myself but unfortunately it needs too much work for my capabilities and time restraints
Here goes. /p>
Triumph TR6
Year jan 1975 . 498cc straight 6 petrol engine . anual gear box . itted with the recommended upgrade to the fueling with a bosch fuel injection system. ileage 90223 not sure if thats genuine. will report back when the service history and all papers turn up.
This vehicle has been owned by the current owner for 22 years . t was driven into a garage 8 years ago and removed a few days ago to dispose of. arage being knocked down. it has not seen the light of day for those 8 years. plenty of spiders) see picture 7. thats how it looked upon arrival. (there was still air in the tyres after 8 years )
I couldnt wait to wash it to see how the paint has weathered . nbelievable how good it is.
I am told the vehicle has had every panel replaced . can believe it because there is no visible rust. Also this vehicle was originally yellow . ou can see signs of this in various areas.
Hood looks like its been replaced at some stage. lthough a rivet has come loose just where hood corner is anchored near drivers door handle. he hood frames have been painted with black hammerite.
Wheel arches inside bonnet have also been painted with black hammerite . uk.
The fuel in the fuel tank don't smell too good . therefore have not even bothered to turn the engine over and try and start it.
The cluth pedal is solid. he fluid in the clutch reservoir has turned to a jelly like substance.
The brakes were also jammed on . ront brake pads in the calipers had to be freed from discs. now rolling. nd the rear off side drum was jammed because the hand brake cable has siezed. hen we took off the brake shoes on this wheel the metal clips holding the shoes on disintegrated and so we have left off the shoes (left in boot) and jubillee clipped the slave cylinder to keep brake fluid in system.
This car look a million dollars. t isnt . think the chassis has gone. f you look at picture 12 the top of the door shuts gap is a lot larger at the top than at the bottom. cant imagine any panel installer leaving it like that . t looks like the rear of the chassis is falling away from the front section. the owner said it has always been like that . o maybe not life threatening . ot sure ?
I am told the drivers seat is from a triumph tr4 . eally not sure . ut it does not match the passenger seat. If you look under these seats by tipping them forward you can see a hole right through the floor. also in the back corners near these areas there are signs of repair plates and welding etc.
There is no carpet . t least you can see what you have. There is also no radio installed
I imagine this car is worth more if broken up . ut it seems a crime to do such a thing. here must be someone out there who's got some time and money to restore her. hat a lovely project.
I have the v5 log book and a letter to authorise the sale from the current owner.
I would normally say viewing is recommended but in this particular case I would say essential so you know what your getting. its a cracking looking vehicle but needs some tlc.
Who ever buys her must promise to sent the owner a pictue of her on the road.
Good luck
