Up for sale is my LOTUS elan. 1966 in  RESTORED. urn key condition. i bought this car for my birthday many years ago. it was a rust free . estored Arizona car. i purchased the car and then fine tuned the car. the engine transmission and rear end has been restored/ rebuilt. i got rid of the dreadful 4 wheel independant rubber donuts on the axel shafts which work like universal joints. the factory donuts do not last. the rubber cracks and virtually come apart like an old rubber band. i replaced mine before it left me stranded. a friend who works on these told me colin chapman must have had a mistress who sold them. otherwise there would be no other reason to use them!!LOL- there is a company in austraila who sells( expensive) but  a quality conversion to covert them to normal universal joints. it works perfectly.    what i have learned about lotus's over the last 50 years is they bodies normally have lots of stress cracks. these cars were built light as a feather to give them the OUTSTANDING performance they have. the other problems they have usually are connected to how light weight they are. flimsey door hinges on the europa model) . tc. this car i have worked all the normal bugs out of. the electric windows work perfectly. has a quality becker radio. the top does not have a wrinkle in it( stretches real tight an looks properly) . the engine has the upgraded( and expensive) weber carbs. they perform wonderfully. the transmission has perfect syncronizers on all 4 gears. the  suspension is also in great shape. the body in 6 years has not developed one stress crack . the paint is glossy and the tires are perfect . the interior is in great shape as well. the varnish on the wood dash is high gloss . it is stored in a climate controlled building. to sum it up. this car is a turn key-nothing needs to be done to the car. it even has a fresh battery in it within the last 6 months. the engine does not smoke what so ever either. another problem they often have is the air tank (that controls the pop up headlights) often rust from salted roads in northern climates. this one works perfectly with no rust issues. all electrical items function as new even the dash map light works. all toggle switches are factory originals as well.  i am only selling it because i have found a xk120 jaguar i want to purchase. and it necessitates me selling my lovely lotus. otherwise i would not be selling it. it is a opportunity to buy a fully sorted out lotus from a guy who has owned british cars since age 15( my fIrst was a MGA). --ONE OTHER THING IS PERFORMANCE: if you have not ever owned or driven one of these they are little pocket rocket cars. if you ever decide to enter a auto cross ;if you are up against a lotus you will probably NEVER win( unless you own a lotus). they are the best handling cars i have ever driven. ERIOD. I ALSO OWN A FUEL INJECTED 57 CORVETTE. the corvettes were well respected in  their day for speed. this little lotus makes the corvette look like the village idiot in performance. its hard to believe a 1600 cc motor propels the car so fast. also the lotus engine( ford block based) is nearly indestructable. itis  a real well engineered engine.  and the transmission could not be spaced any better between gears. you will truely see the racing heritage in driving one of these. i have had everything from  bug eye sprites to a couple V 12 ferraris. and there is NOTHING that handles better than a vintage lotus. any questions please feel free to call me terry 352-598-7431

I just downloaded several more pictures taken this morning. i took a pic of the alternator. hich the lotus parts company in california  recommends as an updated alternator. due to low rpm charging. they also advised installing a voltage meter that matches the other instruments. it works perfectly. i also have the original generator for it. s well as the rubber donut c/v type joints. i took pictures under the hood. s well as windshield seal to show the condition of the rubber on the car( like new). the tires are like new as well and the car doesn;t pull at all one way or the other ( goes down the road straight as an arrow) seat conditon as well as door panels. headlights up as well as down. o anything else let me know.

NOTE:. in checking values of restored MGA'S and TRIUMPH TR3'S they go for $25. 00-$35. 00 today. the Austin Healeys go for  $40. 00- $80. 00+. the LOTUS's are a no brainer investment. these cars were just below jaguar prices when new at least as much as an Austin Healey when new. with jags going from $60. 00-$150. 00. its a no brainer that these cars will turn into $50. 00 cars shortly. colin chapman the genius engineer behind LOTUS   was considered to be top drawer in the brains and talent dept by his peers. i am only selling this( along with an alfa guilia spider i just sold) to fund a porsche targa for the wife and me a xk120. . i only have so much money and so much storage . nd i am not getting any younger so for that reason i decided to sell these. the alfa is another car gong crazy in the market place they are hovering around $100. 00 in restored condition.
