Note to Bidders: We've relisted this nice car after the winning bidder failed to carry through with their purchase commitment.   Please folks. don't let little Jimmy or your darling daughter Suzy-Q have access to YOUR Ebay account unless you plan to pay for what they purchase.   OK. enough rant!  Below is the listing description as it appeared the first time:

1976

Mercedes Benz

450SEL

VIN: 116033120046922

Here's another nice running and driving vintage S-Class Mercedes we just acquired to present our great Ebay customers.   From the moment I first laid eyes on this clean sedan. it has been obvious that it's been treated with love and respect.   Where else will you find this kind of luxury. vintage style. safety. mechanical reliability. ease-of-maintenance AND decent economy wrapped up in one great ride?  Feel free to call or text me with questions or to make an offer before the auction ends.   My name is Mark and my direct phone number is 206/914-1173.   You're encouraged to make an appointment to inspect and take a test drive here at my Auburn warehouse.   I'll be sure to include parts and repair receipts stretching back more than a decade stowed away in the glovebox when the car ships out.

Have you ever spent an afternoon driving a vintage Mercedes with the powerful 4. 5-liter engine?  Smooth is the word for sure.   Smooth powerful acceleration.   Smooth handling in the curves or on the highway. too.   I've always considered these W116 sedans constructed during the mid-to-late 70's as some of the last hand-built. truly high-quality Benz with many others saying the same.   Take a look at the photos and I know you'll agree with me what a nice find this is.   What you see is the result of a wash and vacuum only.   Climb over. under and throughout and I know you'll come up smiling!  Having personally owned many dozens of Mercedes over the years. I've developed a great appreciation for their style. mechanical reliability and overall driving experience.   THIS CAR RUNS OUT JUST AS IT WAS MEANT TO.   I know you'll be proud to own and drive it as well.

CONDITION:

In total. this is a well-cared-for. smoke-free car.   I take pride in the vehicles I post here on Ebay and feel that you should know as much about them as possible before bidding.   Accordingly. here's a list of what I've discovered: Hop in. turn the key (even when starting cold) and the powerful V-8 engine fires right up every time!  The car runs out like a Mercedes is supposed to – instant. strong oil pressure. good battery and charging system. no overheating. no brake pull to either side or alignment issues!  The automatic transmission shifts smoothly between all gears. just as it should. with NO slippage.   I've now put on several hundred miles over the Holiday season including freeway cruising at 60 MPH.

The factory silver metallic paint has had one good quality re-spray and is in very decent condition; no thin spots or peeling clearcoat anywhere!  I've not come across evidence of accidents or past body/frame repair.   Very decent chrome and exterior trim all around as well.   The factory alloy wheels feel straight and true. They're wrapped with matching touring radials all around and appear to have at least 70%-plus tread remaining.

Take another good look at my interior shots.   The front and rear carpets are factory fresh new and very. very clean.   Both front buckets are in great condition overall as pictured.   The matching rear bench has not suffered the fate of most W116 sedans and has solid upholstery on the seat base and back rest sections.   All door panels are in good condition as shown.   Both the speedometer/odometer & tach work perfectly. though I have no way to know if these are original miles showing.   The heater/defroster system blows warm & cold.   I'd plan on having the A/C system checked by a local tech if it's important to you.   It appears complete. but the compressor doesn't switch on from the dash.   There's a continuing mystery as to why Daimler has always had difficulty coming up with a quality. long-lasting German radio for most of their cars.   Even modern Mercedes seem to always have troublesome factory stereos. so it's not surprising that the original Becker Europa tuner was changed out back in the nineties for a nice Kenwood model (it works great on FM; the antennae wand is gone. so AM can be a bit fuzzy).   The jack and spare are in the trunk as shown in the photo.

Please feel free to email. text or call me with any questions during the auction.   My name is MARKand my direct number is 206/914-1173.   You're also welcome and encouraged to come by my Auburn. WA warehouse to inspect & test drive the car.   You might also make an offer before the end of the auction. as many of my listed vehicles sell to smart “early birds” that call and work out a deal prior to the auction's end.   I always reserve the right to sell during this period.

A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:

A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction's conclusion.   The balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have been made with me.     Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract!  You're NOT bidding to hold or then come inspect the truck later as you're more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.

If you decide to have the Mercedes shipped home. there are scores of vehicle transport companies to choose from.   I send off vehicles regularly and suggest that you get a transport bid from Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS).   They're EBay's preferred transporter and will give you a fair quote.   Call them directly at (888) 817-6203.   Give the rep. my affiliate number (2362642) and they can pull up all our information for station-to-station or even door-to-door quotes.

As an alternative. you might also get bids from the U-Ship. com website.   You'll be able to choose a transport broker from multiple offers.   The zip code for pick-up would be 98002 (Auburn. Washington).   For Oregon and California buyers. I have a great transporter that regularly delivers for us up and down the I-5 Corridor.   The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER.

You're welcome to keep the car free of charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received.   After that. storage is $20 per day.
