A 1970 Plymouth GTX with a matching-numbers V-code 440 Six Pack. a 4-speed manual. and it's a real FJ5 Sub-Lime Green car. Without making any changes that can't be unbolted and returned to 100% stock condition. This IS a killer resto-mod GTX that will knock ‘em dead at the next car show you attend.

Given a nut-and-bolt restoration by RK Motors. this car is truly sublime in every way. The paint and bodywork are concours-grade. so good that you can see the quality in the photos. Those massive quarter panels are straight. straight. straight. and the body gaps are better than new (they have to be good. because they show up so vividly against that Sub-Lime paint). Look again at how well the deck lid fits and then go try to find another '70 GTX that looks that good—you just won't. The paint is 2-stage urethane that was applied over a rigorously block-sanded body. and it's distortion-free from any angle. Correct satin black stripes were added to the Air Grabber hood to duplicate the Performance Hood Treatment. and along the sides of the car terminating in the scoops in the rear quarters. Hours of color sanding and buffing leave you with a paint finish that. if it were some kind of wild candy-pearl concoction with flames. would be winning “best paint” awards at national-level shows. Yeah. it's that good.

Trim and other hardware is equally nice. Front and rear bumpers are brilliantly refinished in show chrome. and all the stainless has been polished to match. Correct GTX emblems were added to the flanks. The grille has been properly restored in the correct argent silver. and the satin black tail panel looks perfect against the green paint. New lenses have been installed throughout. and where reproductions were not available. the originals were polished to as-new condition.

Remove the hood pins on the Air Grabber hood. and underneath you'll find the original V-code High Performance 440 Six-Pack Super Commando engine (wow. that's a mouthful!). The engine was rebuilt to stock specs during the restoration (photos are included). and even though the car was getting a mild update. that didn't mean that the engine bay needed anything. Everything is factory-correct. from the Hemi Orange paint on the block. to the hoses and clamps. to the red cap reproduction battery. Up top. the Six Pack carburetion system was rebuilt and tucked away under that massive air cleaner. The only non-stock addition to the horsepower department is a set of beautifully made and finished long-tube headers which give this big block Mopar a little more high-end horsepower.

The chassis was where a bulk of the modifications were made. but again. there's nothing that can't be unbolted and returned to stock in a weekend if a pure stock GTX is what you're after. The floors. of course. are painted to match the body. something that I particularly enjoy with these day-glo colors. Detailed for show. everything is new. from the lines and hoses to the gas tank. as well as that beautifully finished stainless steel exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers. The transmission is the original A833 4-speed manual that came with the car. and out back is a stout Dana 60 that came with the Track Pac option. and stuffed with 3. 54 gears and a Sure Grip limited slip. Up front. the original suspension was modified with a set of coil-over shocks and fat sway bars. along with a tighter steering box for improved steering feel. In back. lighter leaf springs and upgraded shocks were installed to make the chassis more responsive. and polyurethane bushings were used throughout to improve precision and tracking. Wilwood disc brakes were installed at all four corners. finally giving this Mopar the braking power to match the horsepower that it has had all along. Rounding out the modifications is a set of custom-built billet aluminum wheels with blacked-out centers and polished rims. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S with 245/40ZR17s up front and massive 275/40ZR18s out back.

Interiors were one place where Chrysler consistently got it right. and this GTX is no exception. Restored to 100% stock specifications. the black bucket seat interior of this car is every bit as comfortable as it looks. The GTX was intended to be an upscale model. and simulated wood was used liberally throughout the passenger compartment. The seats have been given new foam and seat covers. which feature gray piping for a little bit of contrast. A brand new reproduction console and console hardware from B/E & A add to the luxury feel. Also from B/E & A is a brand new reproduction woodgrain steering wheel. New black carpets are on the floor. protected by GTX logo floor mats. and a new headliner has been installed as well. The gauges were rebuilt. including the Tic-Toc-Tach. and there's a correct Pistol Grip shifter atop the 4-speed transmission. On a resto-mod. one is always tempted to go overboard with the entertainment system. but to preserve this incredible numbers-matching GTX's integrity. the original R11 Music Master radio—with rear speaker control—was retained instead. The trunk was also finished to OEM standards. with a new mat and full-sized spare and jack assembly

I have all the records of the restoration. from photos to receipts. and would be happy to discuss the details of it should you have any questions.

Restored to stock condition. this would undoubtedly be a top-flight GTX that would take home awards at the Mopar Nationals. But with the modifications. this car goes to an entirely new level. Professionally restored and tastefully modified so that it can be returned to stock condition any time. this GTX is the best of both worlds. The matching-numbers power train. combined with the killer Sub-Lime paint and a load of desirable options make it a quality investment that you'll enjoy driving and showing. If you've been looking for a GTX. but most seem too ordinary to you. maybe this is what you've been searching for.

The undercarriage is pristine painted the same color. no rust anywhere. Rotisserie restored.

THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED BY RK COLLECTIONS IN N. C. IN 2006 FROM RM AUCTIONS AND RESTORED BY RK. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL AUCTION LISTING WHICH DESCRIBES IT AS A NUMBERS MATCHING LOW MILEAGE EXCELLENT CONDITION VEHICLE. ALL RESTORATION RECEIPTS AND PHOTOS TRACK THE RESTORATION FROM TIME OF PURCHASE FROM RM FOR ABOUT 60K UNTIL COMPLETION.
The hood fits fine. In some of the pics. it appears to be slanted to one side. I mistakenly had one side still latched. Its fits flush. Also. in some of the pics there appears to be certain issues with the interior carpet. I'm not sure why they are there other than just possible glare. The carpet is in great shape with no stained/worn areas.
I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR MORE THAN (2) YEARS. IT IS A FANTASTIC CAR.
*The buyer is welcome to conduct an inspection of the GTX BEFORE final bidding on the car but not after winning the auction.
Accepted Payment is only in the form of cashier's check/money order persona check or cash not obtaining a loan to purchase the vehicle that requires post winning bid inspections by a loan company.
