Classic Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 convertible LHD

Left hand drive. 5 speed. in Ferrari red. with black hood and tan leather/suede seats. Kenwood radio/CD.

I bought this car in 2000 from its first owner who imported it from Italy (declared manufactured 1991. first registered 16 Nov 1998). I am only the second owner and drove it in the summer only during fine weather for the following six years. It's a pleasure to drive and never once let me down. Bodywork generally very good for age and seats not spilt like many old Alfas. Lovely walnut steering wheel.

Since 2006 I have hardly driven it. and for a number of years have not even had it MOT'd. It's been stored. rather forgotten and unloved I'm ashamed to say. in a garage/barn and so I really must finally sell it.

It's now ready to go with a full MOT (24 July 2013) and 6 months tax.

However. there are a number of things you need to know:

-       It had a full engine overhaul in 2002 (as far as I remember it was mis-firing and my local garage took it out and took it to a nearby racing engineer who completely overhauled it). I have the invoice with details.

-       Two bubble spots (see photo - accentuated by polish!) the other near rear number plate

-       The passenger side wing mirror is a slightly different red and so imagine isn't original but has always been like that (see photo)

-       Some paint work coming off around base of driver mirror (see photo)

-       A number of scratches and spots on paintwork (see photos)

-       Interior door panels are coming a slightly detached in places

-       Hood is in good condition and fits tightly

-       Tourneau cover in good condition (but I've never used it)

-       Mileage. When I purchased it the car had 7426km on the clock. Some time later the milometer broke but I didn't have it fixed.   However. I only ever drove it in the summer as my second car with limited mileage insurance of 3000 miles. I later had the milometer fixed and it now measures miles. For the last 4 times I had it MOT'd it was recorded as:

2013 – 5112 miles

2010 – 5112 miles (I had it MOT'd to sell but with. the recession. bad summer and small baby I didn't get around to it)

2007 – 5073 miles

2006 – 3855 miles

However. on driving it back from the MOT last week I noticed the milometer has broken again!

I have a total of 16 of invoices and 9 MOTs. A lot of the work that has been necessary has been because I have kept it in the barn. unstarted every winter and not turned it over etc. : (

My garage advised that the brakes would benefit from an overhaul as the car has been stored for so long.

Driving this car around a bit for the last few days since its MOT has reminded me why I loved driving it so much. It drives brilliantly and has lots of life left in it for someone who is going to give it some TLC.

I know next to nothing about cars and I have been as complete as I am able with the description. but if you are in any doubt please arrange a viewing prior to bidding. Please don't bid and then come to pick it up and whinge that I haven't mentioned something or other. This car is in good condition for its age. but it isn't anything like concours condition and the price reflects this.
