1971 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 (Grand Turismo Veloce) Coupe

Driven by previous owner for 10 years! Looking ready to race even when it's motionless. MotoeXotica Classic Cars presents this 1971 Alfa Romeo GTV1750 Series II coupe. GTV = Grand Turismo Veloce. which is Italian for Fast Grand Touring. Its previous owner drove it for 10 years! This example is a Euro-spec driver that is believed to have been imported to upstate New York from Canada. as indicated by an Ontario Motor League decal affixed to one of the glass panels.

The previous owner commissioned a cosmetic refurbishment. engine rebuild and chassis upgrades soon after purchasing in 2007. The 1. 8L DOHC inline four-cylinder engine makes 135 horsepower and was reportedly rebuilt by a factory-trained Alfa technician in 2007. with new Borgo pistons and liners as well as fresh main and connecting rod bearings. A Euro-spec six-blade fan is underhood. as is chassis tag Type 105. 44. denoting a non-US car. The cylinder head was rebuilt with new valves and springs. Two Weber 40 DCOE sidedraft carburetors wear K&N pancake filters and a Magnaflow stainless steel exhaust has been fitted. Valve clearances remain within factory specifications as of August 2016. according to the previous owner while compression measures 152 psi across all cylinders and oil pressure at idle is reported to stay above 50 psi at operating temperature. A service in May 2016 included a new clutch. throwout bearing. transmission mount and driveshaft couple. a fresh input seal and new rear main seals. The crinkle-finish cam cover is complements by aftermarket items such as a 123 electronic distributor. a pair of vintage Fiamm brass air horns. hoses and breather filter. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission in which second gear will crunch if downshifted too quickly without rev-matching. Other 20076 modifications included a big brake kit with drilled and slotted rotors from Centerline as well as upgraded springs and shocks. A new upper control arm was installed in May 2016.

Car was treated to a glass-out repaint in 2007 and the resulting finish appears glossy and even thanks to garage storage in the last nine years. Dressed in Alfa Red. this pert and perky car has great presence. Paint blemishes include stone chips and touchups in the front valance area with a notable scratch in the left rear quarter but overall. its paint is in fine shape. A new OEM nose cap replaced a bent one prior to the repaint. Additional bodywork is visible in the right taillight area and a pair of minimal wobbles can be seen in the rear valance. Original chrome front and rear bumpers are included with the purchase. should you choose to install them. Small taillights and round European side markers are complemented by discreet 1750 badges on the trunk lid and yellow driving lights up front. In back. the trunk has intact carpeting and sheet metal in spare tire well remains solid.

All of the glass panels are in good condition. with no cracks or hazing or pitting. All of the vehicle's lights are present. clear and intact. The body panels are straight and in good condition. It rolls on newer Panasport eight-fin. 15×7 wheels surrounded by Bridgestone Potenza G009 tires. 195/60R15. with plenty of tread.

The interior was refreshed in 2007 and still presents well. The headliner was replaced with original pattern material from International Auto/Centerline. On the back seat. there are two small rips at the very top of the back cushion while the front seats are a pair of hard-to-find “flying buttress” seats. which have been restored with refinished pans. springs and correct material from Classic Alfa and look fantastic. The matching carpet is in good condition. as are the door panels and instrument panel. which wears a cap that curls along the windshield so a new cap is included. All of the Veglia gauges work as designed. Contrasting with the rest of the interior is a gorgeous wood-rimmed Nardi Touring steering wheel. The car has no radio or speakers but why would you want those when the engine and exhaust provide the soundtrack? The right-side courtesy light is missing and the glovebox door is slightly out of alignment. Auxiliary gauges in the console are canted toward the driver. Below those are three toggle switches; the left one controls the windshield wipers. the center one controls the foglights and the right one is for the interior fan. The shift lever. mirrors. package shelf and center console are in fine condition. Dash layout is almost the same as on 1969 models. with the solo turn signal indicator between the gauges as the clue this is a '71.

Its previous owner from North Carolina had the following work performed: in June of 2015. he had a door hinge repaired; door sales installed; the doors realigned; the carburetors' mounts replaced; the hood aligned; the transmission mount replaced; installed a trunk seal; bolted down the front passenger seat; and repaired some vinyl on the center console. In October of 2013. he had the following work performed – wiring work under the dashboard and in the engine bay; the inner and outer tie rods on right front; the inner and outer wheel bearings on the right front and set the front end toe; replaced tach and choke cables; replaced carb linkage; adjusted choke levers on carbs; bled brake system. freed right rear caliper; installed correct cam shims to correct valve clearance; adjusted parking brake. Records are included for work performed back to 2007 but the history is meager before then. The previous owner drove the car approximately 2. 00 miles during his ownership. largely since 2012.

Payment Terms

Payment must be made by Cashiers Check. Money Orders or Wire Transfers payable in US Dollars. A Refundable deposit in the amount of $500. 00 must be received within Twenty-Four (24) hours of the auctions close either by Master Card. Visa. Discover or PayPal (Credit Cards or PayPal for deposit only NOT for full payment). Purchaser cannot make any claims of ownership to said vehicle without payment in full. The buyer has seven (7) days from close of auction to inspect the vehicle. If an inspection or decision takes longer than seven days and you find the vehicle not to your liking. your deposit will be forfeited and the car will be relisted. The vehicle may not have more than 75 additional miles on the odometer from the time it left our possession and be returned in the same condition that it left. You WILL be responsible for a restocking fee that will equal 20% of the purchase price of the vehicle. no exceptions. You will also be responsible for shipping the vehicle back to our shop at your expense.
