1926 FORD MODEL T - TUDOR
ARE YOU READY TO TOUR?

Our 1926 Ford Model T Tudor is now available for sale. we have had many good years of touring in this car. This is my wife's car and has always been driven carefully during the 8 years we have owned it. We located and shipped this vehicle back from Michigan in mid 2008. arriving here just after we got back from the Model T Centenary in Indiana. This vehicle comes with a story which l will share with you from the Nov-Dec 1982 issue ( 202) of the Model T Times from the MTFCI.
Underbelly - Squizzy Taylor - this is the police car used and blown up (not really) during the series.
le canard  ( the ugly duckling ) as told by (the late) Arthur Gahr to Jean Barth in 1981.
Growing up in the Detroit area and knowing so many people who work for the auto companies seems to naturally lead to an interest in cars. If your business happens to be auto related. all the more reason for an interest in cars. Add to all of that a love for antiques of all kinds and you naturally would find yourself interested in antique cars. I have always liked antique cars and back in 1978 when l heard about this 1926 Model T Tudor sedan for sale in Grand Rapids Michigan. l had to go and see it. See it l did. and knew l had to have that Model T. The story as l know it is that l am the forth owner of this car.   It was originally owned by a family in Mount Clemens Michigan. which is about 15 miles from my home. I bought it in Grand Rapids which is on the other side of the state. The car was in very good shape when l got it. the interior was exceptionally good. I am told the fabric is supposedly from one of the last bolts of the original Ford fabric. Don Pendock chief judge of the Model T Ford Club International has informed me that he thinks it is more correct than anything he had ever seen. ( the reason he asked to have this article written ). The '26 sedan is a good serviceable family car. that proves to be idea for touring in the early spring and in the fall. We belong to the casual T's chapter of the MTFCI and they go in all kinds of weather. This car brought me to the MTFCI. The man that l brought it from told me about the club about a week after l joined. l happened to be on my way home from my business in Troy when l saw a 1926 Model T Fordor sedan turn at the intersection ahead of me so. l figured that l would follow it and see if l could meet another Model T owner. I followed him to a house where he met another T owner. Bill Barth. Well. Bill invited us in to see the cars in his garage and he thought that maybe l should introduce myself and let Bill know that l wasn't the other man who was driving the T. That didn't matter if you are a T lover you are welcome to tour the garage. I stayed around and talked to Bill about Model T's and asked him if he knew anything about this Model T Club that l had joined in Illinois. With a bit of a chuckle. he told me that he was second Vice President of the club l had just joined. I got more involved in the club after that and went on my first International Tour to Marquette in 1979. My 1926 was so much fun and my family enjoyed it so much that l decided l would like to do a total restoration on my own. So when l had a chance. l brought a 1913 Touring unrestored. I hope to have it at Traverse City for the tour this summer : if not. it will be in the Detroit area for the tour in 1984. The Family is getting involved too. and l now have cars for each member of the family. Storing them will keep me busy for some time to come. My wife Karen's car is a 1913 Delivery. my son Stephen ( who is also a MTFCI member ) has a 1914 Roadster.
The story goes on to mention he purchased Bill Barth's car. Bill being the 1975 Stynoski Award winner. The Ugly ducking will never turn into a swan. thus the reason for calling this article 'le canard' - the duck
the last paragraph reads.
My '26 may be " the ugly duckling" but it brought me to a wonderful hobby. and if there comes a cold or rainy touring day. she really does become a SWAN!

OK lets get back to the car.
ENGINE- Aluminium machined pistons- Prus aluminium 8:1 head- new Babbitt bearings throughout a couple of years ago- external oil feed line as well as the internal feed line- Anderson ( flapper) timer- 270 cam shaft- New coils from Brent Mize in the USA- Electric starter- 12 volt  conversion generator (looks a lot like the original generator)- charges at 6 - 10 amps.     (The original '26 Ford generator comes with the car for authenticity too). - Adjustable lifters- Hi flow alumin intake manifold- The original head and inlet manifold goes with this car - if you want to take it back to original- Starts and drives on both the battery and magneto.
TRANSMISSION- Kevlar bands all adjusted - Quiet transmission. no heavy growl in reverse- Transmission screen fitted just below the inspection cover- Original Ford steel transmission plates/discs.
FINAL DRIVE- Ruxtel rear end with a 3. 33 ( we believe) ratio- Parking brakes. standard Ford - no aftermarket brakes.
INTERIOR- as you have read the story. you will know that the material on the seals and door panels is most likely from original Ford stock. (was it originally grey and faded to green or is it as is written in the books originally green - no one is able to advise on that. but we have seen far too many examples of original material to discount that fact that green with green pin striping was one of the seat and door material colors offered within the '26 T line up). - The back right hand corner has 15 year old mouse chews - only in the very corner piece. - The head lining is very nice and clean but most likely not original Ford material from 1926. - The windows operate as they should. new seals may be needed eventually. - Original seat frames. currently set all of the way back for a 5' 9" woman and 6' man to drive. - I never actually will understand why passengers in the back of all T's get heaps of room and driver and front passenger. gets very little???- Silken roll up rear wind curtain
EXTERIOR- Black two pack paint done some many years ago. It does have the odd touring marks as you would expect. - Under the firewall black paint you will see the cars original dark green colour. which we have had colour matched and used for the dash panel. - Our idea was to repaint it in its original colour when the paint deteriorated enough . Sadly . when polished. it still looks mirror sharp. - Left and right external mirrors are attached. - LED Indicators and brake lights hidden away underneath are fitted - very bright. - Tyres have plenty of tread left on them and should do many many more tours. - Spare tyre carrier is mounted on the back.
ROAD SPEEDAs with most T's. this Tudor will sit on 35 mph/60 kph all day with little effort. keep in mind. that this car is an all steel shell body. no wood structure. only the floor boards are wood. It will travel a little quicker than that thanks to the lower ratio in the diff. but hills are still the killer with most late T's. even those with two speed diffs. The Prus head and new coils does help to reduce that hill/speed reduction.
NEW TO MODEL T's ?We can give you as much or as little assistance in getting you use to the car as you may need. to get you happy and confident in driving your new T.
SPARE PARTSSpare parts are readily available both here in Australia and overseas. There are good sellers of T consumable parts here in Australia and many more overseas in the USA and Canada.
We have thought long and hard about this sale. it is a very good car as is our 1913 Runabout. but another project is on the cards and we will need the space. Both cars have realistic reserves.
SHIPPINGThis auction is for pickup only.
