A beautiful and unique sports car

This is a great looking and driving. rust free 71 240Z that has all the good stuff - performance built 2. 8L  straight six. rebuilt 5 speed manual transmission. 16" Panasport Racing wheels. upgraded suspension and  a beautiful interior. plus the coolest aerodynamic enhancement - a G-Nose from a vintage racing Z. And she runs as good as she looks. Not a trailer queen. just a beautiful. fast. dependable. classic sports car you can enjoy  driving and be proud to show.  

I've owned this car for a couple of years and enjoyed it thoroughly. it attracts attention whenever I drive it. and I've had a blast at car shows. cruising the beach and just driving around town.   I've invested a lot of time and money  and this awesome car is ready. willing and more than able for cruising and events and reliable and comfortable enough to use as a daily driver.   The list of mechanical upgrades is substantial and all have less than 14. 00 miles. they include:

    Rebuilt 2. 8L and 5 speed transmission from a 280ZX   ZTheapy remanufactured SU carbs. SM needles and Grose jets     Plugs. wires. distributor cap and rotor (just completed)   New battery and cables (just completed)     Electronic Z distributor w/E12-80 ignition module   New clutch. pressure plate and throw out bearing     6 into 1 Jet-Hot Ceramic Coated Headers   Lightened Flywheel and new ring gear     Rebuilt suspension with poly bushings & camber adjusters   MSA specific rate springs     Yokohama tires on 16" Panasport Racing wheels   Tokico gas 5 way adjustable shocks   All new heavy duty u-joints (just completed)   Rebuilt R180 Differential with rare 4. 38 gears     Upgraded headlights with relays   High Torque Mini-Starter       Power door locks with remote   and a lot more.    
Needless to say. it's solid. completely sorted out and ready to enjoy. This beautiful car is tuned to perfection. runs extremely well. starts right up every time. smooth and powerful and sounds awesome. She handles well and the brakes work as designed - stopping the car straight and true every time.   This is a great sports car that gets lots of attention. is super fun to drive and very reliable. Rare and no longer available Panasport Racing Wheels with a polished lip are in terrific shape  as are the Z rated Yokohama tires. and they look absolutely perfect on this car. By the way. this Z has MSA specific rate springs  and top of the line Tokico 5 way adjustable shocks on all 4 corners. All suspension bushings were replaced with poly bushings and she has camber adjusters and a tension/compression rod bearing kit installed.  It handles flat. firm and precisely. You can enjoy this car at the track.

Let's take a look at the interior now. It is stunning. I spent many hours making everything work and look  even better than factory with upgraded gauge lights - they actually light up the gauges. rebuilt the  light and turn signal switches. custom Momo Racing steering wheel. custom leather shift boot (way. way nicer than the stock one) and  the classic Z walnut shift knob on a short shifter. I also installed a full dash cover that most people have told me  looks original. The seats are from a Mitusbishi Eclipse. they are much more comfortable and supportive than the  original seats. adjust properly and in spite of a few blemishes look terrific and as if they belong in the car.

Now let's take a look at the heart of this awesome sports car.

It looks good out of the car but even more impressive resting in the detailed engine bay.

I was going to have the inner hood refinished. but the outline of the racing decals from the track car it came from were just too cool.

Datsun rated the original power plant at 150 horsepower. I estimate this motor is putting down  at least 225 to the rear wheels. And in this lightweight car. that's a handful.

She really likes it and is ready to go. but unfortunately NOT included in the auction.  

Hopefully I don't have to remind anyone that this car is 42 years old and of course is not going to be flawless nor is it a museum piece. Having said that. this car is a very fine and rare example. well  cared for and preserved. I store it covered in a garage. Not only that. it is really fun and looks and drives fantastic.   It is a really nice. fast car and it has a clear California title.

As far as any issues there are very few aside from what I have mentioned. A couple of things to note. it starts right up every time with the manual choke but runs best when it is warmed up a  little (no fuel injection). And the transmission shifts smoothly and positively but it is a  bit stiff when completely cold as well. The door window outer molding & seals are starting to show their age a bit and could be replaced if desired. This is inexpensive about $100 for both sides and easy to do. They are not all  that bad. couple of small chips in the seal. The windshield has a few pits and one chip. The specific rate springs are pretty stiff and it can be a bit of a rough ride on bumpy roads.   If track fun is not in your future I would recommend installing some progressive rate springs like Eibach Sports. The rear anti-sway bar is not installed at present to soften the ride a bit (but included of course). And finally. the radio channel select does not work going backwards. it goes forward fine and the remote works  fine in that regard. A new face plate would probably solve this if it bothers you.

All in all there is absolutely nothing to keep you from enjoying this car just as it is - I know I sure have.
