Car has clear CA title in sellers name. Current Registration. and License Plates in hand.    Title states 1963 Morris as year and make.
This 1963 Westfield Lotus Eleven is from the first production run of Westfields and is powered by a 1275 cc Morris engine. Westfield produced replicas of the original Lotus Eleven. a proven competition car and class winner at Le Mans in 1957. The seller purchased this car one year ago from a dealer. who acquired it from the original owner. It is titled as a 1963 Morris and looks the part with a correctly proportioned fiberglass body and vintage-style interior. The car is street legal and the seller drives it around town. but never on a track. The car comes with a clean California title and a Michigan historic plate.
These limited edition cars were originally developed by Chris Smith. a well-known Lotus restoration expert. He began building small numbers of Lotus Eleven replicas in the early 1980s using the same tube chassis and molds taken from the original bodies. This car is one of around 150 or so that were produced between 1982 and 1988. There was another limited run built between 2002 to 2010. Delivered as kits. they were commonly fitted with BMC A-series engines.
The fiberglass body with aluminum tub is in very good condition with no noticeable damage. repairs. or cracks in the paint. The wraparound Lexan windscreen. head fairing and headlamp covers pay tribute to the original cars. Access to engine and rear mechanicals is through removable body panels front and rear.
Brown leather buckets add some civility to the spartan interior. Speedometer and tach are Smiths. while three VDO auxiliary gauges add an appropriate look.
Except for the tach. gauges and electrics are in working order.   The tach could be a simple wiring issue.
BMC-A series 1275 cc engine is coupled to a 4-speed manual gearbox. Output on these engines can reach up to 100 HP depending on modifications. although the exact spec on this one is unknown.
The engine is fed by a single Weber carb and runs well.   This car is surprisingly quick due to the favorable power-to-weight ratio.
Westfield's tubular frame. riveted aluminum tub. and suspension are true to the original cars.  The frame is in good shape with original paint and no damage or rust issues. The wire wheels are wrapped with correct sized 145 width tires.
