Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.25) based on 257 votes

Selling my 1952 Packard May Fair Hardtop Coupe.  This car was a birthday present two years ago.

All I can tell you about the car is that it was restored four years ago by a Packard expert for a driver.

The car had just over 70k on it when the body was removed and the frame and all suspension and various parts were powder coated black… All other parts were Cadmium plated like hinges and nuts and bolts along with numerous misc. pieces.

On the underside the body and frame are like new with a very light coat of black sealer.

The suspension has all new rubber and rubber grommets…the leaf springs were all re arched and the car has Air Ride and a700R4 overdrive automatic transmission and was converted to 12 volts.

The Ivory and Black paint is perfect…no chips. dings or scratches or scuffs. Nearly all the chrome and stainless were re plated and polished without dings dents or scratches.

The tires are new radials and the white walls do not have any curb scuffs. The custom brakes work perfectly and all the brake and gas lines are new. The interior and headliner and dash are near perfect with no wear. The floors were sound sealed with new carpet that shows no wear. The upholstery inside the car and trunk is near perfect.

All lights turn signals and gauges work perfectly. but the radio was never converted to 12 volts.

The car runs and idles like a watch and the 700R4 transmission shift perfectly…but after sitting for several weeks. the car will not start.   A local mechanic and friends say it's the carburetor or timing.

I do not want to spend time and money to get car running and have no room for such a large car.

So. I am listing AS IS with No warranty of any kind or any funds set aside for any issues of any kind.

Please provide a $1. 00. (One thousand US dollars). nonrefundable deposit within 24 hours of auction end.

Come and see the car and bid on it knowing it will need some work…but well worth it.

Please ask all questions before bidding…better yet. take the time to come see the car or have an expert verify quality of this car.   If you want any additional photos. please do not hesitate to ask.

Answer to questions:

Yes the clock works and all the interior vanity lights all work.

Yes the car has the rear Fender Skirts. they are Painted to match the car and ready to install. I forgot about them.

The Brown Folder contains information about the 700R4 Transmission Adapter and manuals regarding the ride control system. the factory wire loom. Fuel pump. carburetor etc etc.

Only the body and inner fenders received very light black sealer. the frame is gloss black by a process called powder coating. so were all the suspension parts and brakes and engine compartment apron etc.

All the hinges and silver nuts and bolts are Plated NOT painted. Even the lug nut bolts were plated cadmium.

The dash is in excellent condition and you can see the ride control adjustment gauge mounted under the dash. Everything else is located in the corner of the trunk.

All the literature is Original Not new publications. The service manual contains many receipts including the original receipt for the manual itself dated 1951 for $2. 50

The 1952 sales brochure calls this new model "The most exciting Sports Car of the Decade" because of the hardtop - no post styling and the larger Packard 327 Thunderbolt engine.

If you need any further clarification or close up photos just ask.
