Austin Mini Cooper 998 Mk2 1969 classic

Engine and gearbox Engine is original 998 Cooper. The engine number matches the registration document. The engine does not smoke. burn oil or rattle. the oil pressure is 75 PSI. The engine has the removable taper covers and is original Mk 11 Cooper. mileage is shown as 70. 00. The oil and filter has been changed within the last 100 miles. Temperature is normal and the engine does not overheat. Carburettors are twin 1. 25 inches SU with unheated manifold. currently fitted a single carburetor and manifold but the original twin carbs will come with the car and have all the bits to fit with pancake air filters linkages etc. Exhaust manifold is correct 3 into 1 and not LCB. Dynamo charging and separate solenoid for J32 starter. Gearbox has aluminium Cooper gearbox extension and correct chrome gearstick as fitted to MK II Coopers and ‘S' not as crisp as the MK III but does not jump out of any gears and synchromesh (2. . ) is good although drive is quite noisy. Rubber UJ's with U bolts as per MK II drive flanges. Drive TrainDrive shafts are good and the car has disc front brakes with new pads. suspension is dry rubber and all good . Steering rack has a small amount of play n/s otherwise good. Rear brakes are unspaced drum. Wheels reverse rim Cooper in white with small chrome hub caps tyres are good Yokahomas all round. InstrumentsInstruments are oval 3 dial centre mounted with circular 100 MPH speedo. oil pressure water temperature and fuel all work. With flasher indicator on speedo. Body: Structural Good subframe front and rear. Rear subframe has been 2 Pack undercoated then undersealed and wax oiled. under the wheel arches have been cleaned and wax oiled. Inner. outer sills; boot floor; front and rear valance; boot interior; boot hinge panel are all solid. The floor pan front and rear and wheel arches are all solid. Body Surface Panels Doors are MK11 sliding windows. exterior hinged. Passenger door is very good. drivers side has some bubbling. boot lid is rusty at bottom of outer skin. it is original MKII with number plate light underneath. Scuttle; top of wings; and headlights and ‘A' panel are all good. but there is flaky paint at joint between wings and front panel. Inner wings and bonnet are good. Roof and pillars are good. Although paint inside gutter is not perfect. Some substandard paint and flaking on rear quarter panels. Finished in red with white roof. Boot interior has MK II petrol tank and all proper brackets for ply boot cover. This denotes original Cooper body shell (numbers match log book). Spare wheel is reverse rim with Yoko tyres. Interior Front and rear seats OK but loose . original carpets but tatty. Needs door cards(supplied). roof lining complete but torn and dirty(good replacement supplied with car). parcel shelf trim missing (metal is original. no speaker holes or extra screw holes). Original Cooper with all original bits. not messed around. just needs some more work to make a show car or use as is.
