1977 Avanti II Base Coupe 2-Door 5.7L

1977 Avanti II up for auction with 73. 00 original miles. 350 Corvette engine. 400 auto transmission. p. s. . p. d. b. . a/c. p. w. . p. . l. . electric trunk release. power sunroof. magnum 500 wheels. tan leather. walnut wood dash and console. and Corvette dark blue paint. This Avanti was traded into the factory in 1982. They repainted it the original Corvette dark blue lacquer before selling it to the second owner with 55. 00 original miles on it in August 1982. The second owner had it for over 30 years at only about 600 miles per year. This is a unmolested Avanti. In other words. it was maintained by the factory and not cobbled up. It is just about impossible to find an original Avanti that has not been cobbled up with shoddy repairs and installing of non-factory original parts. The original tan leather interior is in fabulous condition. The dash pad has one very minor small crack at the right front of the dummy speaker grill. The dash is soft and pliable which proves this car was always stored inside. The 2 front bucket seats were professionally redyed as the original 36 year old leather dye was just starting to wear off. The original dark brown carpet is like the rest of the interior in fabulous condition showing no holes or wear. Door panels are also in great condition. This appears to be a no hit car with all it's original factory fiberglass. As the pictures show the factory lacquer paint is cracking and pealing and will need to be stripped and painted. The original 36 year old chrome is somewhat driver quality. but should be rechromed. The frame is in great condition having only surface rust not crater rust. The rear cross member has been replaced. The magnum 500 chrome wheels are driver quality and do have the minor rust in that 90 degree bend of the rim. This is the area on almost all chrome wheels that is susceptible to rust. The car has had the catalytic converter removed and true dual exhaust with glass packs installed many years ago. The electric sunroof does not work. The small drive gear that moves the cables I believe is stripped. The cables are not broke and I unhooked them at the back corners and blocked up the rear of the steel sunroof. The roof will probably leak until this gear is replaced and new weatherseals installed.
