vehicle description

This is a NO RESERVE auction so whoever bids and wins the auction will own this Camaro.

It is hard to convey in pictures and words how truly exceptional this car really is. Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this all numbers matching. unbelievably original. and documented 1978 Camaro Type LT with ONLY 291 ORIGINAL MILES and only one registered owner since new. This is by far one of the nicest and best Camaros on the market and an investment grade car; it is truly a museum quality time capsule. The market on ultra-low mileage classics is red hot right now and this example is priced to sell. Very low mileage and original examples of the second generation Camaros are nearly impossible to find and draw a huge premium. The low original mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car. but also the current Ohio title. pictured below. showing the mileage as "Actual. "

This Type LT looks outstanding and runs great.  Every option on the car works including the power windows. rear window defogger. and the air conditioning. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come. This Camaro is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combination of White (11) with Carmine Red Type LT interior (74B). This is the correct and original color scheme as verified on the trim tag and build sheet. Please peruse all of the photos. video. numbers. and other information below to get a true sense of clean. original. and spectacular this Camaro really is.

There is a wealth of original documentation that comes with this Camaro. Most importantly to verify all of the highly sought-after and rare options. the original build sheet is include with the car and pictured below. We personally found this build sheet still under the back seat after we purchased the car. Also included is a color copy of the first and original Pennsylvania title from 1978 in the original owner's name. the original owners manual. a thank you letter from the dealership to the original owner for his purchase of the car. the 1978 Chevrolet Maintenance booklet. and the 1978 Chevrolet Consumer Information booklet. SteelShield receipt from 1978. Uniroyal tire booklet. space saver spare pamphlet. and warranty information booklet showing the original owners name.

This Camaro is completely numbers matching. literally every part we could check on the car came back with the correct number and date. This includes all stampings. casting dates. and even items like alternator. starters. and all of the glass. The most important stamping is on the engine block. The last six digits of the VIN. 583617. are stamped on the engine block and pictured below indicating that this is the original engine that was installed in the car brand new at the factory. The transmission is correct and original as well with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the case and pictured below. All of the paint and trim codes are also correct for this Type LT.

As a side note. this Type LT is not a dealer auction vehicle.   We hand pick each car after careful inspection.   Our classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.   We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.   Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.   We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.   If you have a question about the Chevrolet. just give us a call.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts. but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example. all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

condition

Exterior

The Classic White exterior is in gorgeous condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss. deep shine. and smooth glass-like finish. Both doors open and shut nicely and do not sag. Often many Camaros will have particularly chipped up front ends. this car does not. The underside of the front end. which is a very fragile and venerable area of the car. is in good condition as evidenced by the photos. There are no major scratches. scrapes. or other imperfections that have been excluded from the photos. As one would expect from a paintjob with this much age there are a few signs or wear from the past 38 years such as the little trim pieces between the rear bumper and body. there are specific photos of both sides below. We have owned many Camaros from this era and this is common to all examples of this body style. regardless off mileage or wear. The original YJ8 aluminum turbine wheels are in great condition with a brilliant finish and absolutely no curb rash. The tires are the original FR78 Uniroyals from 1978. The trunk is remarkably clean and original. It is totally complete and fully detailed with space saver spare tire. inflator canister. jack. jack base. and original trunk mat.

As one would expect. this Camaro has absolutely NO rust issues. It has been well cared for and stored indoors. it was also rust-proofed when new. We have also included specific photos of the spring perch. lower front and rear quarters. and other areas on the car most prone to rust to show how clean and original this car is top and bottom.

Window Date Codes

Please note that ALL the glass on this car. the door glass. rear glass. and even windshield are date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of this first week of April. 1978 (04A).

The Camaro looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The Carmine Red Type LT interior in this Camaro looks utterly splendid and factory new. The original seats are in spectacular condition. They look just as good in person as they do in the photos with no holes. cracks. split seams. or wear. Please note that these are the original vinyl seats with the original material. not aftermarket covers or replacements. The carpet in the car is also in "like new" condition with no stains. rips. or holes. The dash and center console are in excellent condition with no cracks. fading. or sun damage. Even the glove box light works. The original AM/FM 8-Track player is still in the car and most importantly the dash has never been modified for an aftermarket radio. The radio and speakers are original to the car and still work properly and sound great; even the 8-Track cassette player still works and is shown playing in the video below. All of the gauge lenses are crisp. clear. and show no wear at all. The original door panels look excellent with no cracks or splits. and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner is in great shape with no holes or stains and no sagging. The original package tray and rear grills look great with no warping. fading. or sun damage. The original and correct floor mats. which are pictured below. are almost impossible to find in this excellent original condition. Please note that both seat belts operate and retract properly. This is a common problem and a small. but very important. detail most buyers do not think to check. The seat belts themselves are correct. original. and still have the tags showing the date and belt information.

This is one of the best original interiors we have ever seen in a 1978 Camaro and is a true study of how these cars looked from the factory. This car has never been smoked in; there are no burn marks and no aroma of cigarettes what so ever. These F-Body interiors are not known to wear well. and the magnificent condition of this all original interior is a testament to the meticulous care and attention this care has received throughout its life.

This Type LT interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Camaro is in great mechanical condition and everything on the car works. The original numbers matching engine is in great running condition. The car starts right away every time. runs well. and idles well. It drives terrifically and it is smooth on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car driving around our neighborhood. One can see the car braking. accelerating. shifting through all the gears. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The car runs cool and does not overheat. The video also shows all of the options. lights. and all items on the car functioning. We did not want to put too many miles on the car. We purchased it with 285 miles and have put 6 miles on it and it drover great with issues at all.

The engine compartment is beautifully clean. detailed. and correct as one can see in the photos. All of the correct decals are still in place.   All of the ignition shielding is still on the car and even all of the small vacuum lines in the engine compartment are routed correctly and still feature the correct and original colored striped and coding.

The horn works as do all the exterior lights. indicators. turn signals. rear window defogger. wipers. power windows. all gauges (with the obvious exception of the clock). and blower for the heater and a/c on all speeds. The a/c works and blows cold. One can observe the a/c compressor engaging properly and turning on in the video below. For the purpose of showing or judging the original tires should definitely be on the car. The tires should not be used at high speed simply due to their age. They have plenty of tread left and only 291 miles of use. but the rubber in any tire after 38 years should not be trusted at high speeds. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car.

The Camaro runs and drives as well as it looks.

Overall Condition

Overall. this 1978 Type LT Camaro is in excellent survivor condition and a true museum piece. It is a great value and we have it priced to sell. We do not normally talk-up the cars as much as we have with this Camaro. but it is truly one of the nicest F-Body's we have seen. The fantastic condition and extremely low miles makes this Camaro nearly impossible to duplicate. The value of these second generation cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector or the average enthusiast. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Other sellers are not taking the time to show the car is in such great detail to give you all of the other numbers. Numbers matching is extremely important in Chevrolet pricing and will become even more important as time passes and this car becomes older and even more rare and desirable. This information is very valuable and important for pricing. Any perspective buyer. for any of our vehicles or from other sellers. should ask for all the numbers and information before he or she makes a purchase.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
