Retro/Vintage Aircooled VW Transporter T25 Camper/Day van 1981 not T4/T5

This is a reluctant sale as I have put a lot of effort into this van and is unrecognisable from when I bought it but. due to current circumstances. it is not getting the use it deserves. It is an original tin-top and these are getting rare now. The van gets lots of appreciative comments and looks wherever it goes.

·         2 litre aircooled CU engine with 4 speed gearbox. The engine is not the original. It was installed by the previous keeper using a brand new engine from VW heritage which was originally from the MOD as a ‘land gun' engine. I cannot confirm mileage for this but I have done less than 4000 miles in the years I have had it and runs very well.

·         Resprayed in bright orange with a gloss black roof three years ago by a local VW repairer who also services the van regularly and has done the majority of the mechanical work on the van. He also knows the history of the van. including the new engine installation. as he knew the previous keeper as well. Paint is still in good condition as it has been garaged whilst at my home address. Uses a Jagermeister theme with decals on rear side windows.

·         Lowered by 50mm correctly using uprated Bilstein B4 shocks and AVO springs from Brickwerks. This now gives a very good ride and handles very well without the feeling of being top heavy.

·         Sits on 15 inch Mercedes steel wheels in black with orange pin stripe around each wheel which looks very effective. All four tyres are correct load and in excellent condition. There is a standard wheel/tyre as spare under the van.

·         The front seats have been replaced with SAAB leather ones which are extremely comfortable along with a Caravelle steering wheel which feels nicer than standard thin-rimmed versions.

·         There is an original Westfalia Rock and Roll type seat in the rear. This is originally from a 70's VW Bay Window van and is as wide as a double bed and very comfortable. There are two seat belts (lap style) fitted to the seat.

·         Buddy seat/storage box fitted to rear of drivers seat which also benefits from a 3 point seatbelt which is great for kids meaning this is a full 5 seater with seatbelts for all.

·         Leisure battery behind passenger seat which is powered and charged using a split charging system. This at the moment powers some internal LED lighting strips installed in the original curtain tracks for discretion plus the lighting behind the original 1960's VW splitty badge mounted on the kick panel of the seat

·         Laminated flooring installed which also is on the kick panel for the seat

·         Loads of storage space under the bed. in the storage cupboard behind the passenger seat. storage area at side of buddy seat plus storage at side of the bed allows for an impressive amount of kit to be hidden out of view.

·         Limo tinted windows for sides and rear which gives great privacy but also allows for a surprising amount of natural light to come in.

·         All doors and the tail gate have had sound deadening and insulation material added to the inside of the door. This has also been done on various panels inside the van to limit road noise.

·         EMPI exhaust which is in great condition and. although not the quietest. I like the sound of Aircooled vans so it suits me.

·         Paulchen bike rack which holds two bikes. These are a great alternative to the usual Fiamma ones and look far neater. They have a small profile so when in the ‘up' position they still do not protrude from the van and also compliments the overall shape of the van.

·         Full set of Just Kampers Thermo blinds included which are far more effective than curtains.
