JAGUAR XJS TWR 1 Owner from new Full history 1985 for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.1) based on 486 votes

This is a Jaguar XJS 5. 3 litre V12 TWR from new and is registered in UK and Switzerland. it is a true TWR from new and not a kit car.

The TWR XJS offers levels of hand built engineering sophistication unavailable in a production-line vehicle. The 5. 3 litre engine remains standard. but a power increase of some 10% is achieved through the use of full flow exhaust and silencer system made in stainless steel throughout with top speed around 160 m. p. h. The automatic gearbox has a 'quick-shift' modification which sharpens up-shifts and kick-downs. Up rated brakes. Suspension. it is here that lessons of closely contested motor racing have most clearly paid off. The levels of roadholding are far in excess of those likely to be encountered on the road. but important balance between handling and ride has not been lost. The combination of stiffer springing. as filled dampers(made exclusively to TWR specification) and lowering has the desired effect. WR have altered the turning in characteristics. and reduced roll which makes the car more controllable in high speed curves. whilst at low speeds it has lost none of its suppleness and ease of operation. a specialpower assisted steering system is fitted to give greater feel through the wheel (TWR Steering wheel fitted) to suit the sporting driver.

Wheels and tyres; specially designed alloy 8 X 16 road wheels have been made to combine low drag and adequate extraction of cooling air from the front brakes. low profile high speed tyres are fitted. This car also has a spare set of wheels to exact specification but have winter tyres fitted (still as new). The aerodynamic panels are only part of the revised external appearance of the TWR Sport conversion and the Jaguar special paints were applied.

The full dealership works TWR book is with the car as is the workshop manual service books. WR original leaflet and the build costs of the conversion which could have purchased another car from new such is the cost. Every bill is with the car for servicing over the life of this pampered car over £50. 00 has been spent to ensure the car is as good today as it was when new. it was serviced only a few hundred miles ago when a new high torque starting motor was fitted. The cost of just the set of 4 wheels cost over £1600 and there are 2 perfect sets. The car has only been used to commute between England and Switzerland so has not worked so hard. The underside of the car is clean as it has had steam cleans every year and any small oils leaks fixed. All the usual replacement units over the years have been changed. The car runs on LPG at only 69p per litre however it could be be put back to petrol only if required. It is whisper quiet having had door rubbers changed when needed and the tinted glass is all perfect. All old m. o. t's are with the car although the last test was done in Switzerland where the test is so much more strict.

The car is to be sold without reserve with a very low start price. Paypal is not accepted on this sale please ring for payment methods or any other questions. Delivery can be arranged at cost to anywhere in Europe please ring or email for a price but the drive home will surely put a smile on your face. I can collect from Bristol International Airport or collect from local train stations. All work on this car has been done by Main dealerships using only genuine spare parts. Inspections welcome. I can be contacted on 01179372558.

This car can be found on Wikipedia and a must for any Jaguar enthusiast/collector or race day/track day enthusiast. there is so much more I could write about this almost perfect car so ask any questions. Regards James

Hi,
I also have a 1985 TWR. Virtually identical to yours. Pix here:

I am curious - was the red stripe on yours original, or did you add it.
You are giving someone a wonderful bargain. Good luck.
Alan
