1976 MGB GT unfinished project I bought this car last year with the intention of finishing it and keeping it for myself. Since then plans have changed and I've hit a wall on making progress. When I bought the car it was basically a rolling shell with the bodywork side already done.
When I bought the car I was told the car had had: -Full bare metal respray-Underside bare metalled. stone chipped and painted-New inner and outer sills-One new door-New castle sections-New rear quarters-New front wings-New wiring loom throughout-Engine rebuild approx 400miles before being taken off the road for the restoration-All new rear brakes (including drums)-New bushes all round-New springs all round-Stainless steel fuel tank Everything was brand new or refurbished. a lot of time and effort had been spent on the car. Since I've had the car it's had
-Full lowering kit (springs will settle and drop more)-Front bushes replaced with poly bushes-All new metal brake lines-New metal fuel lines-New braided brake hoses-New braided clutch hose-New high torque starter motor-New alternator-New battery-New heated rear screen-New drop glasses-New door / window rubbers-New stainless wheel arch splash guards-New brake servo-New brake master cylinder-New clutch slave-New clutch master-Uprated fuel pump (taken from my other car)-New fuel rubber hoses-New black carpet kit-All new seat foams-New seat diaphragms-New GT badges-New battery cables-Sound proofing inside doors and rear wings-New headlining-Callipers rebuilt and repainted-Silicone coolant hoses (Not cheap!)-New heater hoses-New heater valve-New diff gasket +oil-10w40 Mobil one engine oil-20w50 gearbox oil-Cherry bomb exhaust (partially stainless I believe)-New chrome cold air vent grill-All grills etc repainted-New bonnet seal-Dash board repainted-New tailgate seals-New chrome washer jets (early style)-ATE blue DOT 4 uprated brake and clutch fluid-New throttle cable-New number plate backing-New side mouldings-New tailgate catch-New axle straps-New thermostat + gasket-New oil cooler hoses-New oil cooler-New lock set-New fuel filler cap-New ignition barrel / steering lock-New brake pads-New brake pad fitting kit-New interior trim panels-New original style door sill finishers-New window winders And more than likely a lot more I've forgotten! Everything has been refitted using new nuts and bolts (some stainless).  Everything is either new or has been refurbished along the way. The wheels are 15" Minilites (I believe they are replicas) with Continental tyres.  These were run on my old car for a few thousand miles but are still spotless from the refurb.  The 15" wheels make an incredible difference to the handling taking out a lot of the 'boat like' feeling without making it stiff and bumpy. The car basically needs finishing off and bolting back together. That I can tell all it needs for an mot is:
-Sort the windscreen washers-Fit the o/s exterior mirror-Fit the interior mirror-Bolt the seats in-Bolt the seatbelts in-Fit the choke cable and tune it up-Fit the throttle return springs-Fit the pedal return springs-Re-bleed the brakes Then there's a few non MOT items that need attending to such as interior trims. chrome screen trims etc etc. I have everything needed to finish the car off again either new or needing a clean up.  Some things obviously aren't available new such as the screen chromes of which I have a set that just need polishing up. The car runs but needs setting up properly so as it is it doesn't idle but revs sweetly. The car is spotless and could easily be concourse when finished. You won't find another as clean as this! Viewing of the car is welcome in Maidstone. Kent.  Obviously having no tax. mot. insurance and being on sorn there is definitely no test drives! All questions welcome so please ask! Thanks for lookingKieren
