The Series 2's are highly prized because they are the more pure version of the car as Chapman designed it. A bit more refined than the Series One but still light weight and very much the sports car. It was the basis for the 26R racing version that did and does so well on the competitive front.   I bought this car from a fellow that did more work than driving. When he transferred the car to me he asked that I note in the original Drivers handbook when he bought the car and when he sold it. This I did. He was the steward of the Elan for 22 years. The original Handbook and original Workshop Manual come with the car. He had the engine completely rebuilt about 2000 miles ago. It runs as it should with even compression across the cylinders. Weber carburetors are one of the features of the Series 2 and these are doing a great job. The engine is matching per the original build sheet. I contacted Lotus about this for confirmation. The frame is original as well. He had the lotus painted a shade of green that is very attractive. Computer screens sometimes distort the colors but this green is very well received in person. The paint job has a few  chips as expected but the bodywork is superb. There are no stress cracks and the panel and door fit is very good. I sandblasted and repainted the 5 pin knock off wheels per factory spec. black inside and dull silver outside. They are true without cracks or elongated pin drive holes as plagues some cars. The car tracks straight ahead without any wobbles. I installed four new Vredestein Sprint tires and tubes. The four speed trans is a joy. snicks and shifts as a Lotus should. I think the rear end is a 3. 7 as it goes down the highway at 70 with less revs than my Sprint which probably has a 3. 9 diff. The prior owner had the  suspension rebuilt and I installed new wheel bearings and ball joints. Brakes work as they should. Underneath the frame and body are quite clean. the frame being painted in the appropriate red oxide color. The gauges and lights all work but the gas gauge is a little iffy. I rely on a yardstick to be safe. It has the beautiful original wood wheel and a matching gear shift knob. The dash has been done in what appears to be a birds eye. perhaps maple. and matches the wood steering wheel quite nicely. It does have a few cracks in the veneer but these are not too bothersome to me. Carpets have been replaced. The seats were a chore. I sourced the exact replacement covers from the UK and proceeded to strip the original seats down to the frame and wire. Pic included. These seats are birdcage like and the wiring gets bent out of shape over the years. This I straightened and replaced a few broken springs. They are now comfortable and supportive. The top was another fun project. Robbins Auto supplied the new Stay Fast top and I supplied the labor and sore hands. It is an upgrade from the original vinyl but I think it goes a long way in the fit and looks department. The original tonneau is included. I installed a new Stay Fast tonneau from Robbins. I also procure an original type battery box cover that shields the battery behind the drivers seat. It is really necessary to complete the interior so your friends jacket that is tossed behind the seat doesn't wind up full of battery acid holes! I also installed a cutoff switch on the box that you can turn off and take with you if you leave the car unattended or just want to preserve the battery if you are not using it on a regular basis. It has a new Odyssey dry cell battery. The prior owner switched to negative earth and an alternator. possibly to accommodate the auxiliary fan. The starter has been switched to a high output version. Both original parts are included with the car should you wish to reverse that mod.   That's most of it. Very happy to talk about it. Call Phillip at 505 660-5256 As for pricing. the last good one. meaning correct and ready to go. not something that will require untold time and dollars reversing someones race car / flaired fender / worn out interior version of the Elan went for a bit over $50. 00 on Ebay. You might recall. it was white with rare knock off rims similar to this one. This Series 2 Elan is correct. a lot of fun and a joy to drive. It will not let you down on the highway or when you just enjoy it in your garage. It is not a restoration project. it is ready to go or show.
