It's time to dive deeper into this 1983 Porsche 944. because beyond the bright red paint is a custom interior and an LS6 V8 motor. Yes. you read that right. This slick Porsche has a Corvette Z06 heart!


It's hard to go wrong with a red Porsche. The wedge shape and chiseled bodylines of the 944 have aged well. and thanks to Porsche's attention to detail. it still looks great. Part of this timelessness also has to do with the recent application of the slick paint that gives it the kind of appearance worthy of the premium nameplate. You can tell this is a well maintained car by the way the black bumpers. trim. and rear panel are crisp and dark against the new paint. But as you start to get into this level of detail. you also notice some serious custom work. For example. the custom rear spoiler. lower stance. and 18-inch alloy wheels borrowed from a late-model 911.


The wheels are not the only piece borrowed this Porsche's bigger brother. All of the seats are easily recognizable as an upgraded from a modern Porsche 911. The gray leather bucket seats feel amazingly comfortable like a modern German-engineered sports car seat should. Gray armrests on the black doors help integrate this package nicely with the black door panels. carpeting. dash. and center console. Even the 911's rear seats look like they belong on this custom interior. You get a nice wooden sports steering wheel and a full set of gauges. Plus. there are plenty of amenities such as ice-cold R134a air conditioning. power windows. and AM/FM/CD stereo with an auxiliary input for your most modern music players. And of course. this 944 comes with its signature feature. the large removable sunroof that truly opens the coupe up to the world.


As much as you've seen some nice custom upgrades so far. the best one is reserved for under the hood. That's a 5. 7-liter V8 motor in place of the original four-cylinder. This setup comes from Texas Performance Concepts who specialize in giving 944s likes this one the heart of the ultra-quick Z06 Corvette (C5). The moment you fire up the motor. everyone knows this 944 has been given a serious power upgrade. and just in case they don't. you can activate the exhaust cutout on demand via a switch on the dash. Both the Corvette and the 944 were setup to run a transaxle. so everything feels exceptionally well balanced on the road. and the five-speed manual gives you complete control to harness the upgrade in power. Plus. Bilstein shocks all around as well as drilled and slotted brake discs at each wheel make this a truly awesome driving machine.
