This is a 1968 EUROPEAN MODEL Tipo 10503 Alfa Romeo DUETTO Spider.  It was delivered when new to Germany and has the German ID tag under the hood. The VIN AR10503 665376 and Engine number AR0053617379 correspond with FUSI for that years production and it can be assumed that this is the original motor for the car (or at least in the correct grouping according to Fusi ). It is titled as a 1968 but Fusi shows it as a 1967 production. The odometer indicates 75704 miles. but we have no way to verify the mileage. especially since all the other gauges are European. indicating that the speedo was replaced at some point in the past. It has a period. most likely European Philips radio in the dash. After a year in Germany it was brought to the US in August of 1969 and spent 2-3 years on the east coast. From 1972 until about a decade ago the car was in Colorado. It has a clear Colorado Title.  It has 1600 Motor. with Weber carburetors. The car starts. runs and drives very nicely. It has Ate disc brakes at all four wheels. It has 5 star alloy wheels from a later Alfa Spider with new Yokohama tires.  The car is finished in original Green paint. we believe that the dashboard is the original color. At some point in the past. it was painted gold. The interior is black with 1970s period yellow and black hounds tooth cloth inserts on the seats and door panels. We assume that this was done when the car was gold.  There is a Hellebore Wood Rim Steering wheel. an Alfa part. but not the wheel that originally came with the car. We can source an original steering wheel if you prefer for originality. The greatest attribute of this car is the underside that is totally rust free with what appear to be the original floors. The trunk floor and spare tire well also appear totally original and have no rust.  The trunk lid. nbsp;which usually are rusty. looks like new.   There are some rust bubbles under the paint at the top of both rear wheel arches.

The roll bar was installed at some point in the 70s. It participated in Alfa Romeo Owner's Club track events in 1973 (it has a sticker on the windshield and plaque on glove box door from AROC Convention ALFASPEN 1973 held in Aspen. Colorado). The bumpers are in good overall condition. they are stainless steel and can be polished further if desired. The rear bumperettes have some extra holes in them. don't know it there was some sort of nerf bar in the past. There is no reverse light. not sure if this was because the car is European. the right bumper section does have the mounting base for such a light. The headlights are period Carello. probably original. but no way to verify that. The original Carello headlight covers are present. but not on the car as they have yellowed with age. There is a canvas convertible top present. but will need to be replaced. The dash top has cracks and will need to be restored at which point you can also have the seats and door panels returned to original all black vinyl. It has a black carpet set. but originally the car had rubber mats. these too are available through aftermarket suppliers if you desire to make the car as original. The car has its original jack and tool bag with some of the original tools.

This is a car that runs and drives and can be enjoyed as is for this summer and more to come. A very solid and original car. Rusty projects that would require more than the cost of this car are listed for sale at close to this starting price. All the cosmetic details that need to be addressed can be done in time and as you desire depending on your driving habits and needs and budget.  If you desire more photos. please let me know.

I am listing this car for a friend who has too many cars and not enough time to drive them all. so he has decided to thin out his personal collection. He has owned this car and maintained it for the last 8 years. The car is New York. on the Queens side of the Triboro Bridge and you are encouraged to arrange to come and see and drive it. The car is listed for sale locally and we reserve the right to end the auction at any time. As stated earlier. the car has a Colorado title. It is the buyers responsibility to arrange pick up of the vehicle after full payment from its current location. A deposit of $1000. is to be made by PayPal by the winning bidder at close of auction
