1941 Packard Rollson Limousine Convertible

 

MissChiTown feels very honored to have been chosen to market this 1941 Rollson Convertible Limousine on an exclusive basis.  This is a full classic car. ‘one off' custom body by Rollson on Packard's longest wheelbase in 1941. The car is a full classic and has near dimensions of a Duesenberg.  The odometer 27. 10 and is believed to be correct.  There is no paper documentation but that is what the current owner was told by the previous owner.  Most collectors are aware that the custom body builders for automobiles after the turn of the century descended from carriage builders for horse and buggies.   The Rollston Body Company came from that type of beginnings and continued to make some of the finest bodies during their existence.  

 

Rollston was the first choice as a body builder for Packard's custom bodied cars.   A well known quote is when the Packard company was not happy with another body builder they would say. “why can't you build bodies more like Rollston?”   Rollston continued to make bodies until the depression when they eventually went out of business.  

 

After they went out of business the ex-employees gathered together to create a new business called Rollson. note that they dropped the “t” and this was done because the “Rollston” with a ‘t' was bankrupt and therefore could not be used.

 

The ex-employees continued to turn out some of the finest bodies and one of the last bodies that they turned out was the car that you see in front of you.   Many have asked why a convertible limousine.   The answer is that is the way the original owner who purchased this car wanted it built.    This one off special custom bodied car was built right before World War II and did not get much use and is still a very low mileage car in absolutely fabulous condition.   The current owner has preserved this car in the best of condition.

 

The car has a known history of ownership and is considered to be a irreplaceable part of history.

 

The car that you see before you is a restored show car and also has chauffeured many notable personalities in the past five decades for various reasons.   The restoration is several years old but still shows exceptionally well.   The current owner wants to be sure that the car goes to a good home and has set a very reasonable price for reserve so that all collectors. museums or even a person that just wants a one car collection – can bid to win.
