1939 Chrysler Royal Windsor - Rare Classic American for sale
Current customer rating: (536 votes ) based on1939 Rare. Pre-War Chrysler Royal Windsor coupe - only 373 ever made!
This is an idea restoration project. or even Hot Rod/Rat Rod project. as the bodywork is solid. rolled (not pressed like modern cars) steel. and has all the original external chrome trim still though it will need re-chroming. The rear doors are suicides and it has front and rear bench seats.
Though I have stated at its a non-runner. the engine did work. though it has not been run for a year. and it has no fuel line or tank at the moment. A new fuel tank is included in the sale.
This is also un-registered at the moment. and will require transportation on either a truck or a big trailer. The only major body work issues are that the running boards need replacing and the trunk floor needs replacing.
You should definitely view before purchase. just to understand the size of this beauty. Unfortunately I don't have time to do this myself due to other projects.
History of Chrysler Royal Windsor's
The company was founded by Walter P. Chrysler on June 6. 1925. when the Maxwell Motor Company was re-organized into the Chrysler Corporation.
Chrysler has been one of the most impressive automobile manufacturers to date. For almost a century. Chrysler products have been considered to be some of the most competitive and sought after models in the history.
The Chrysler Royal was produced by the Chrysler Division of the Chrysler Corporation from 1937 to 1942 and 1926 to 1950. The Royal represented the base trim Chrysler during its production. making it the most affordable Chrysler model.
In 1939 Chrysler contracted with Hayes Bodies of Michigan to build 1. 00 coupe bodies. Out of the 1. 00 coupes they produced 373 Chrysler Royal Windsors. The main difference between the coupes were the changes made to the windows. This made the Royal appear 'Art Deco. ' The Royal was equipped with a new design 'Gold Seal' six cylinder engine that developed 95 horsepower.
This vehicle has a wheelbase of 121. 5 inches. a length of 210. 7 inches and a width of 77. 8 inches. The Chrysler Royal weighs approximately 3527 pounds.
