Offered for sale is a 1967 Austin Healey. Mark 3. BJ8 convertible. It was purchased in 2006 from the second owner. The car is an older. high quality restoration that has a great appearance with pale blue metallic paint and full clear coat. The British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate shows the car left the factory in July 1967 as a “Healey Blue” solid color that was later changed to the two-tone style shown in the posted photos of this listing. All part numbers on this big Healey are an exact match with the heritage certificate.
I installed a new vinyl interior and new dashboard knobs in early 2007. Three-point seat belts were also added at that time. The steering wheel is original but now covered with a leather skin for enhanced appearance. The car has an adjustable steering column to fit driver preferences.
The body has no observable repairs from past restoration either with replaced metal or bondo-type fillers. The standard test of a strong magnet shows full metal integrity for the steel body parts.
The car has full undercoating and the rocker panels/floor pans have no indications of rusting. The vinyl top has no leaks or tears but does have some shrinkage. The car has been garage kept for the past 10 years. While parked on overnight driving trips. I use a custom-designed full vinyl cockpit cover attached to the existing snaps used for a traditional tonneau.
Various (new) upgrades installed are: gas tank. radiator. fuel pump. heater hoses. small chrome parts. tubeless - 72 spoke Dayton chrome wire wheels. Vredestein tires. fan belt. distributor rotor and badge bar. The car has steel “towing eyes” for easy attachment to a roll-back tow truck. The speedometer was rebuilt by Nisonger Instruments in 2009. In the boot is a covered spare tire with a scissor jack and a wheel wrench to remove and reinstall the knock-offs without using a hammer.
The car has been driven 6. 00 miles in the last 10 years. It is a solid highway driver especially with the overdrive engaged in fourth (top) gear. The exhaust note is totally distinctive and recognizable as a big Healey by enthusiasts. Going with the car are multiple spare parts including a new clutch disk and pressure plate. Also. for the benefit of a future owner are 20 years of maintenance records and several restoration guide publications.
The car has been maintained year-in and year-out for reliable and enjoyable use plus regular attendance at British car shows with frequent award recognition. It offers the buyer proud ownership and preservation of an iconic sports car admired by older and younger generations. alike.
