Under the hammer a very nice prewar classic. a FIAT 508 BALILLA from 1937. the more utilitarian car in the Fiat range until the Topolino appeared; this excellent example (one of the latest as the model was discontinued in 1937) has the four speed gearbox (sinchromesh on 3rd and 4th gear) and the shield shaped front grille introduced in 1934 on the Balilla but. more important. nbsp;the extremely desiderable factory option of a 108 CS engine type. the same used by the peppy Balilla Sport. nbsp;a little OHV four cylinder 995 cc. nbsp;36 HP at 4400 rpm. nbsp; (instead of the archaic sidevalve standard engine delivering only 24 HP used in most saloon) and the same chassis (live and beam axles. elliptical leaf springs. hydraulic brakes) introduced in 1932. This four door saloon was registered new in the Caserta province. in Southern Italy. got a new registration in Turin in 1967 and in the early Seventies was bought by the present owner. a well known and respected collector who kept it very carefully. with a regular use and precise maintenance; recently he treated this little gem with a light respray (still in its original black colour) eliminating the not original thin red stripe running around the body (it can be seen in one picture. taken before this work) and at the same time he got the interior upholstery completely remade in its original light brown cloth. put four new tyres (plus two new spares) and two new front headlamps. The car is in full working order. runs and drives wonderfully. it is original from every point of view. without any trace of rust (it was always kept in a dry and heated garage) and comes with a lot of spares (headlamps. a new speedometer. belts. filters. bumpers. ). The owner is reluctanctly selling it due to his age. need of space and its lack of use. and wants to highlight its excellent conditions (in the pictures the car is covered by some dust as it spent the last months on a ramp in a two car garage and we were not able to get it out in the open due to a flat battery when we toke the pictures). The car is located in central Turin. can be collected locally by its new owner or can delivered everywhere in Western and Northern Europe at a little extra cost using my car and trailer.
