1975 Mercedes Benz 280CE W114 Right Hand Drive
I bought this car in 2012 from a friend who had just had all of the metalwork and paintwork done. New floorpans. boot pan and sills were fitted. The underside has been Wax-Oyled.
Since then. the car has had £7. 00 spent at D Class Automtive restoring the original seats. fitting a new carpet and headlining. reveneering the wooden dash and fitting a reconditioned original Becker Mexico radio with modern internals (it has an Aux lead/line in).
The car has also had fitted to it steel wheels with NOS hub caps (painted black to match the car) as it was originally supplied with Bundt alloys. The bumpers have been replaced for brand new stainless steel units from Harringtons. The rear lights have been changed for smooth. pre-facelift lights and the steering wheel has also been changed to the pre-facelift Black Bakelite style.
The car has had a rebuilt radiator fitted. the brakes and charging system overhauled and a service by Romance of Rust. The fuel injection has been tuned by Steve Redfearn Mercedes Specialist in Wimbledon as the car had been sat for some 20 years prior to restoration.
There are some niggles with the car ie. a couple of distorted plastic trims and the paint in areas is not great (micro blistering and some surface rust on the roof) but the car is priced accordingly.
Having daily driven the car for almost a year back in 2013. it really is a lovely thing to be behind the wheel of and just oozes style and class.
