I think that 996 values will continue to steadily rise in the next few years. as people catch on to the design purity and relative innovation (in 911 terms) that the 996 series represents. it is already becoming very hard to find a decent C2 Manual. Let me start by saying that I am gutted that I have to sell this fantastically sorted car. but needs must.

I have owned around 10 Porsches in my time. including a 993 Turbo 4 and 2x track day prepared 944 Turbo's. 2x 928's and a 968 Club Sport. Thing is I have always had a desire to build a trick. normally aspirated 996 that could be used on the road or track. This is that car. it was recently cover featured in the Modified 996 shootout in the March 2015 edition of 911 & Porsche world Magazine where it went up against some stiff competition in the form of the RPM CSR prepared 996 3. 4 and 911 Porsche Worlds own Project GT3.  I will supply my treasured copy of the magazine to the new owner.

The look:
Ok so I'll admit. the supporting role as love interest Sally Carrera in the kids film 'Cars' wasn't a good start but still. the funny thing about the 996 is. to my eyes at least. the standard Carrera spec cars just don't seem to look right. especially when compared to the equivalent GT3 models. Even a Carrera fitted with full GT3 body kit and GT3 alloys can still look lacking somehow. I figured it out. the solution lies in the suspension setup. That's where this car is spot on. sitting on a poly bushed. KW Variant 3 fully adjustable suspension kit. I had RPM Technik do a full Geometry. corner weights and ride heights. The result is amazing. the way this car squats there with its RPM CSR upgrades (Genuine 18" Fuchs alloys wth genuine GT3 side skirts and GT3 front bumper. CSR Carbon ducktail) just emphasises the very subtle flow of the narrow body 996 shape to absolute perfection. Amazing how these subtle mods can make such a difference to the look of a car. Job done. no further work needed. simply the pure lines of the narrow body 996 shell. subtly enhanced to CSR spec. but those who really know their cars can tell…

Engine and drivetrain:
I went to town in this department. My plan was to build a quick and reliable 996 Carrera. one that wasn't burdened with Porsche's worst mistake since the 924 Automatic. The truth is that Porsche accountants penny pinching meant that the standard factory fresh 996 Carrera which should have been a wonderful thing. was burdened with a potential "chocolate teapot" of an engine as standard. Such a shame because it was 95% amazing technical marvel. 5% terrible. There has been loads written about this. mainly by Hartech. so visit their website if you don't already know the story. however don't let this put you off this car. This was an expensive project but I was determined to make this car what the 996 Carrera always should have been when they left the factory. I was Assisted by Hartech and Dorset Sports Cars. who successfully race their in house prepared  996 and 968 cars in the Porsche club championship race series. With a pair of Hartech supplied Nicasil sleeved. re-engineered original crankcases as a starting point. we then researched and designed an enhanced engine specification that added many improvements over all the known 996 M96 engine weaknesses.  I have listed the final engine specification below. but needless to say the barely run-in engine is an absolute peach. Power estimated at 360 bhp by Steve Bennet (911 Porsche world) when he drove it in 2015.

To Conclude
This Black/Black 996 C2 Manual is a rare thing in itself by not being burdened by having a baby poop colour interior. an auto box or missing its roof. that it has been carefully built to deliver GT3 type levels of performance and reliability whilst not shouting about it too loudly from the outside are simply the icing on the cake - just ask Jethro Bovington!.
