I'm reluctantly listing my great 1959 Land Rover Series II 88". named "Truckee". It is a deluxe LHD station wagon model with Rare optional Tropical roof withskylight windows and sun shield. A northern American. California truck sincenew. Built May 25th. 1959 and shipped to San Francisco port then on to dealership in Northern California. This Early Rover spent most of its life in the Northern California Sierras. most recently in Truckee. CA. I am the third owner. It came from the factory in Land Rover color Marine Blue (one of the best colors in my opinion). This Early rover is almost all stock. At some point in its life it was repainted on the outside only to another color. however the interior has always retained the original paint to this day. The original paint was matched and the exterior was repainted on outside only to rematch the original Marine blue painton interior still. During the painting process. we used a flattening agent to dull the sheen of the new paint a little to keep the paint looking more "aged".   One of the previous owners used the truck as transport for a river expedition company. the custom painted logos on the doors are homage to that history. Many factory accessories of this truck including deluxe "dished" bonnet hood with sparetire holder. rear spare tire holder. and very desirable Kodiak heater. It retained all of its early Series II characteristics and special parts specific to an early Series II. which differ from the later Series "IIA" models in 1961. The rare and desirable station wagon roof or "tropical" roof  as some call it. is in great shape with factory skylight or "alpine" windows. sliding side windows. and working fresh air vents. The sun shield was stripped to bare aluminum and coated for a better look. There is a functional rear work light which is activated by a period style switch on the dash. The rear door has the factory optional second spare tire holder. All the lights are factory including the correct GLASS LUCAS lenses on the front. All the exterior galvanized trim and capping is original and UNPAINTED as it should be!!! This truck also has the very rare one piece doors which I have only seen on North American trucks destined for cold weather destinations. All glass is original from 1959 and no chips or cracks are present. Wheels are stock correct 16" and have the factory "off white" or crème colored paint. The tires are biased ply military style which I use on all my Rovers. and give the truck a great look. These tires make for  a little rougher ride than a more modern tire would offer. but could be switched if desired. All mirrors. handles and trim are all correct for the truck. The Rover has had minor rust repairs in its life in some common areas for these trucks. These areas include the lower floor board wells. and rear cross member. These were done using factory Rover parts and performed by professionals.

Under the hood. the motor is stock 2. 25 liter petrol. The engine was replaced with a NOS Stock Land Rover engine purchased from a land Rover parts dealer and installed years back. It came in a wooden crate which I have from the previous owners. Over the course of its life. this Rover has been maintained using all factory land rover parts and NOS parts. I have over $11. 00 in receipts for maintenance and repairs over its life. I would venture to say that almost everything mechanical has been replaced on this Rover at some point in its life. These receipts will all be provided to new buyer.  I myself recently removed the top end. had the head resurfaced. hardened valve seats. new gaskets. new rollers. roller guides. new hoses. water pump. plug wires. cap. rotor. manifold. etc. etc;  Valves were adjusted and new fluids were added.  We also added a period correct Temperature gauge using a period land Rover accessory dash plate. This Rover runs and drives as it should.  The transmission works as it should. and 4 wheel drive all works as it should. Interior is older but in good condition. As stated before. all the interior paint is original. It is not perfect though; there are many scratches. chips. etc. . but it has a great "Rover" look and lots of patina.  Because of its life in the sierras. the rear compartment once had a an "insulation" material added to the lower bench seat areas and against the rear back of the seat area. I have removed this to expose the factory paint as it should be. The rear headliner in the tropical roof is 100% original and although discolored and such. is in great shape. The front small headliner above the cab was removed but I do still have it if someone wanted it to be reinstalled. Like most old rovers. especially 50 year old ones. this truck had lots oflittle bumps and bruises. but overall this is a great rare early Series II rover with agreat look.  I have many rare pieces of vintage outdoor gear and decals that have been added to decorate this truck as seen in the photos. If the sale reaches its reserve. I would be willing to leave all of these accessories with the truck. The value of these items is several hundreds of dollars. The decals can be easily removed if desired. but look great with the theme of the truck.

This is not a restored or show Condition Rover. but it is anhonest. genuine early Rover.  Its not some dolled up truck with aquicky bondo paint job and rattle can trim like ive been seeing on ebay lately. Do nobe fooled with some so called "restored" trucks. Shiny and polished does not mean its right. I have seen many new Rover enthusiests buying wrongly built. incorrect Series Rovers. This Great Landy has been loved and enjoyed by its owners as it should be; myself included.  It has been used off road. driven in the snow. and has traversed some of California's most beautiful areas. These Rovers were not meant to be show cars and true Land Rover enthusiests  see the true beauty in a genuine Series Rover.  Series IIA and Series III trucks from the mid to late 1960's are getting hard to find. and pre 1960 ones are SCARCE! These iconic vehicles are so well loved by everyone. Features in movies. music. nbsp;advertisements for many popular brands of outdoor gear. and ownership by famous people are all driving the collectability of these vehicles higher. Im only offering Truckee for sale because I havetwo other old series Rovers already and sadly I just dont drive him asmuch as he needs. and I feel it needs to go to a new loving home. If you've always wanted an old Land Rover this is your chanceto get a good sorted truck with a good history! I also have Birth CertificateFrom Land Rover which will be included with sale. I will be posting a video walk around link to youtube soon.  I encourage any potential buyers to contact me by phone or email to discuss the Rover.  Email me for my phone number. I am located in Northern California about 30 minutes south of Sacramento. nbsp;CA . . and would be happy to make an appointment for you to see the truck in person before bidding.   I drove this Rover several times over the last couple weeks and it runs great.
Clean CA title and registration in hand. and insurance.  I can also assist with arranging  shipping anywhere inthe US. or possible delivery for an extra fee within 300 miles of Sacramento.
