We are delighted to offer this truly outstanding car onto the market.
This is an ideal collectors piece and most certainly a car for the discerning buyer.
This very original. low mileage MKI Jaguar was first registered in June 1958 and still retains its original colours of Grey with its wonderfully original Red leather upholstery and original registration mark 697 BDE.
The MK1 is now being recognised as the collectors choice. for most cognoscenti the purest iteration of the breed. With its filled in rear spats and steel colour coded wheels this car fits the bill almost perfectly
The first owner was Mr Hall of Pembrokeshire who kept the car for over fifteen years before selling the car to a local motor dealership in the mid 1970's. By 1975 the Jaguar mileage was just 25. 15 miles and records have been kept since with the mileage now just 59. 00.
Between 1975 and 1999 the Jaguar covered just 13000 miles and was then sold to a QC Barrister based in Kent and Central London.
Between 1999 and 2013 the Jaguar covered almost 20. 00 miles and was subject of thousands of pounds worth of expenditure ensuring the car could be reliably toured and also kept in outstanding. very original order. In 2005 the MKI was awarded a first prize at a Jaguar factory concourse and invoices over this period total over £15. 00.
The invoices detail superb maintenance. fastidious preparation for road use and shows the owner kept up to the car with no expense spared. The most substantial work carried out over this period was an engine rebuild. gearbox overhaul and VSE cylinder head overhaul and lead free conversion. The flywheel was also refaced and balanced to the crankshaft by VSE. Other invoices cover maintenance and work to include new hoses. thermostat. steering bushes and steering column universal joints. new brake master cylinder and re-conditioned servo. re-lined brake shoes. overhauled starter motor. replacement anti roll bar bushes. new propshaft universal joints. new clutch master and slave cylinders. new flexible hoses. new track rod ends. ball joint assemblies. new exhaust mountings. new clutch assembly. regular servicing and underbody wax.
697 BDE is mechanically excellent as expected with the high level of expenditure over recent years.
The engine runs superbly holding impressive oil pressure.
The rebuilt unit is in top condition and benefits from the VSE rebuilt head.
The gearbox is lovely to use and changes up and down smoothly. brakes. handling and steering all feel excellent and the car is a true delight on the road.
This MKI is a special car and has the lovely balance of genuine originality and recent mechanical expenditure that has given the car proven reliability and contributed towards the car winning events.
Top class. low mileage original cars are not easy to find and this one will not disappoint.
Presentation is beautiful with lovely deep. high quality paintwork. stunning straight body panels and an exceptional straight underside.
The chrome work gleams. the glass all lovely and the car has a wonderful presence.
The interior is almost unrepeatable with outstanding original Red leather. stunning carpets. woodwork. gauges and is of a condition you would expect when a few years old.
The car feels like a true time warp and has such an honest. high class feel that is so hard to replicate and is almost impossible to recreate with a fully restored car.
