ROVER MINI COOPER SPORT Genuine Sport version light restoration late 2000 X reg for sale
A quick note to read first!
I'm fed up with eBay's inherent problem of non-paying bidders.
I sold a car recently for the winner only to tell me now he had won my car he was going to list his car on eBay and could not pay me even a deposit until he had sold his.
You see many adverts with people threatening to give you bad feedback. get you banned and take you to court - you bid to buy etc
these statements are just making the seller look bad. and let's face it if your making those statements it is often a reflection on your behaviour - people in glass houses I believe the expression.
eBay are the only winners. they get their money for listing and relisting and they don't even pay their taxes.
So I'm trying a different approach to see if this works. hence what you are now reading!
I'm listing my things on a buy it now. you can buy it without viewing at the asking price. but its instant payment in the settings.
or you are more than welcome to do the old fashioned thing of coming to see the car and taking it for a test drive if appropriate.
I have complete faith that the price is market value and the car is as described.
I am not a car trader but I have been in the past. I have worked on cars for more than 25 years but the past ten have been in design and manufacturing of kit cars.
then concepts and now I do only custom builds for a TV show. my sons illness mean I will never be able to work properly again as he needs constant intensive care way beyond leaving his mother to cope
and meaning I do not have the time to chase people into completing.
Why it's for sale…
Simple it was bought to feature in the TV series I am involved in.
We are restoring a late model original Mini and making it into a 1959 homage by fitting the early rear lights. bonnet. front grill and fitting external hinges (non working)
Then retim the modern interior with 59 style gold brocade material.
Why are we not doing this car?
With all our filmed cars we buy more than one and use the other vehicles for filming props. quiet simply we film sections on a car that is not the actual car
whilst the star car is off screen having work done on it. this is to reduce the cost of down time for the film crew as filming cost around £2500 per day.
This car got used as the second car and the other one got rebuilt. the other car was done as it was in a worse state and needed more work. which made better TV as this car needs only minor tidying.
Should you wish we can convert this car to the same specification £8. 95. or just restore it to standard specification £6. 95 or you can buy it as it is £3. 95
About the car…
This is a genuine Cooper Sport. also known as the Cooper Sport 2000 and not to be confused with the Cooper Sport 500.
In 2000 after BMW bought out the Mini name Rover sold off the last Mini's as Se7en. Cooper. Cooper Sport and Knightsbridge (overseas only).
They badged 500 cars as the Sport 500 and they came with a bag of goodies.
This car has had 3 owners. 2 from the same family and has a good history with it. the last owner. a lady. had the car mechanically maintained to a high standard by her brother
who worked for a local Subaru dealership. He also fitted the Subaru highback bucket seats that are currently in it and fitted a uprated gear linkage. a dtm upswept stainless exhaust and a momo steering wheel.
We have the original steering wheel and will happily refit it free of charge if required.
Bodywork. as far as we can tell it is all original except the passenger door skin. we are told by the last owner it was replaced by the insurance company after a supermarket argument
I am guessing that is why it is rotten on the bottom edge if they did not rust proof it correctly but a good condition used door is included with the sale
Rust is present under the windscreen rubber as is common on all late cars. and to both front wings under the headlamps.
In our experience these will all repair without the need for replacement the passenger door as mentioned will need replacement.
The rest of the car seems to be in generally good order as is to be expected with a Mini that's 16 years old.
Mechanically this car is in very good order. it has been very well maintained and it shows. The speedo indicates 110. 00 miles and that is backed up by the history that comes with the car.
whilst we have had the car on occasion the clutch lever has stuck where the pivot pin in the gearbox end plate. with a squirt of oil it became free and I am sure with a few days use will be fine.
all the brakes work as they should but as the car has been stood around predominately unused for the past 18 months we would recommend that everything is checked. cleaned. greased and serviced before use. It has the standard fitment "minilite" spoke alloy wheels that seem to be free from damage with 4 good tyres with 2 nearly new ones fitted.
Interior. as mentioned it has had Subaru seats fitted. a Momo steering wheel and a modified gear linkage. the rest is all as it left the factory and in good used condition.
If you are going to use the car lots then the seats are actually really good but personally I would change them back to the original ones (readily available black and silver)
and have the back ache that they give you!
I have taken close up pictures of the warts n all. we all know what a Mini looks like hence more detail pics then of the actual car!
About buying the car…
Your more than welcome to come and view the car and see it running.
whilst it does drive it is not a drive away car and really needs to be on a trailer until the complete brakes. clutch. suspension and cooling system have been checked.
Remember this is an advert it is not an extensive detailed report and it is a guide for you to base your decision on not a sales contract.
you can have it inspected by any person or agency before purchase should you want a second opinion or not be car minded yourself.
I can have the car delivered for £1 per mile (calculated one way)
The car can be viewed at NN6 6JF
Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm someone will always be there if I am not available.
outside of these times I will need to meet you by appointment as it is 1. 5hrs from hospital or 30 mins from home depending where I am.
You can call me on 07773300066. please bear in mind that my phone is on silent - vibrate most of the time due to hospital regulations
so if you call and get no answer I will call you back as soon as possible or you can send me a text.
I'd prefer it to be between 9am and 9pm but will do my best as life seems to be a 24hr a day cycle at the moment.
I won't respond to any message that starts with "will you take…" it's the advertised price unless your stood in front of me and have a good reason why I should take less. and everyone does like to do a deal including me but simply saying "my mate brought me over and I need to buy him some KFC on the way home. have you seen how big he is its going to cost me a fortune" whilst amusing is not a reason!!!
Full cleared payment before the car leaves. bank transfer preferred. cash on collection is fine other methods taken so long as it doesn't incur costs to me
I don't really want any part exchanges but will consider them only if it is in my favour to do so and within eBay rules.
So let's see how this approach works…
Questions and comments welcome
The TV show is Garage RatZ and will aired next year. we have a cartoon series just starting now on social media google will find all about it if you are interested.
