Powering this giant 2 door coupe is the original 460 CID V8 engine. and the original automatic transmission transfers the power to the rear wheels. The Continental served as Lincoln's flagship car during its first three generations. 1939 to 1960. The Town Coupe nameplate debuted in 1973. this gave the coupes a similar high end name that the sedans had with the Town Car nameplate. For 1978 the Continental Town Coupe received and completely redesigned dash. In an effort to cut weight. the all steel dashboard frame was replace with an all plastic dashboard frame. a design borrowed from the Mercury division.
