Here is an opportunity to own a winter project car where all the tough stuff has been done and now it needs the value adding.

Having previously owned a Series 2 Interceptor in the 80s and seeing how the prices were escalating so quickly and the cars are such fun  I purchased this Interceptor in 2014 .

The history of the car indicates that in the 80s it was subject of work that included two front wings. two rear wings. sills and other work.   In early 2000s there were  engine and transmission  major work. New doors were fitted. There is an agreed value insurance valuation at this time for £11000  In 2004 it changed owners and was off the road until 2014.

The car was neglected during this period. Work carried out recently to bring back to life includes;

·         bare metal respray to factory colour·         new vinyl roof as it came out of factory·         new bonnet·         new windscreen·         new sills again . The inner sills were present and sound but in the 80s rebuild the jacking points in the sills had been removed . Further welding to make a very sound car. ·         tyres·         all seals to doors etc·         full quality carpet set and felting to interior and boot·         most suspension removed and painted together with fuel tank. exhausts and detailing work to engine. ·         Kenlowe type fan control. halogen headlights·         Feeding the leather work inside – no tears on the seating – and restoring the colour.

Unfortunately I was taken ill  during the process and when fit enough completed the car to MoT standard but have lost the interest to complete to a high standard.

So what does this car need to bring to a Condition 1 standard?

·         Replacement/ overhaul of leaky steering rack. ·         Set of bumpers and over riders. They may look OK in the pics but are well beyond rechroming. They could be painted matt black  which suits. Your personal standards would dictate if the door handles and other chrome parts need re chroming or replacing. The car is 40+ years old·         Air condition. All parts present. Broken con rod in compressor. Described as “a world of pain” by Jensen dealers to recommission. Few bother·         Heating system. No leaks but control valves thought to be sticky. ·         In car entertainment. I have the Jensen 8 track system but not fitted. Speakers not present·         Inertia reel seat belts are set as fixed belts. ·         Some non MoT electrical systems need recommisioning. Air horns- compressor there and working. no horn trumpets. Electric door locks and fuel flap – solenoids work if energised locally -wiring issue in car . No seat belt warning system installed but I have parts.

The above is a good a description of the car. I've seen too many Interceptors described as superb that you can put your hand underneath and pull away great chunks of rust and bodywork . nd they too have the systems that don't work.

For a car of this status and price a viewing is essential prior to bidding but with the above comments you will know what you are coming to see. Pl phone 01530 563057 for specific details. more photos etc.
