Early and rare 1933 Prewar Hillman Minx DeLuxe in very good original condition

I am advertising this wonderfully original early example of a Hillman Minx on behalf of a local gentleman friend who is the second owner of the car. He bought it locally from the original owner who fastidiously maintained the car from 12. 4. 1933 to 28. 12. 1987. The current owner used the car occasionally for local shows and for a few weddings. it last having been taxed in the mid nineties. Since then the car has been carefully stored indoors. covered up and on blocks and has been run up and driven around along private roads from time to time. It drives. runs and stops fine although a new owner would be well advised to give it a thorough check over and service before using it. It really would therefore need to be picked up by trailer or similar due to a lack of miles being put on it for many years.

It is a first series early car with the benefit of additional items reserved for the De Luxe model such as semaphore indicators. sun roof. nbsp;interior rope pulls in the back. ashtray. wiper blades and a clock. Underneath the later and very well made cloth seat covers are the original leather covers which could be revealed and used but their condition is unknown although is thought to be serviceable at least. The door trims appear to be original and are in good condition throughout. The headlining is generally good although a small area at the rear would need to be tidied up.

Underneath the car. as can be seen in the photographs. is very good with very little surface rust in a few places. The great mechanical and structural condition are due to it having been well looked after and preserved by two careful owners to date. There are a few blemishes to the paintwork and chrome in a few places although there is a wonderful overall patina to the car in general.

This very period. correct and pretty thirties family saloon would have once been a common sight on British roads although is a rare thing to find these days. There was a change of number plate as the current second owner was sold the car without the original number when he purchased the car. An age related number is easily and cheaply available via the DVLA at Swansea or a personal number could be fitted. The correct and current v5 is with the car showing the registration number as seen in the photographs as well as a service manual in good condition.

There are a few areas that could be improved and a new owner would have a great reference piece due to the exceptional originality of the car. It could be used as a weekend family fun car. a museum piece. a period film extra or even be fully restored to excellence.

Viewing could be arranged if someone was serious about the car which is located a mile or two away from my house - it is located quite near to Stansted Airport . There is currently no intention of finishing the auction early and certainly no buy it now price SO PLEASE DO NOT ASK THIS QUESTION.
