Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 592 votes
This 1966 Triumph TR4A is a Condition 3 car that has been driven only in good weather and garaged always by seller.   It runs well and due to various upgrades handles exceptionally well.   Actual mileage is unknown but certainly more than the 60. 52 indicated.    Seller has put about 2000 miles on the car since acquisition.

The car has original matching body. engine and chassis numbers.   It was originally imported into California in early 1966.   The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate with all build details is attached to the listing.   The transmission might be original; at some point an overdrive was installed.   The car underwent a fairly complete restoration in the early 90s and has had a number of subsequent improvements.   The car was repainted in the restoration to what is a close approximation of the original Triumph Racing Green color.   Interior remained black leather and top was changed to black from the original white (possibly earlier).   Has tonneau and top covers.    The padding on top of the doors. which is correct. is not installed.   A set of new uninstalled pads is provided.   Full tool set (not original).

Features: The car has had a number of upgrades by the seller and previous owners:

Interior

The original veneer dash was replaced with a solid teak type during the earlier restoration. The car has early aftermarket sun visors.
Seller installed three point inertia reel seat belts.   Original lap belts are included.   Wheels and Tires

The car was originally equipped with 60 spoke wire wheels and radials.   The car now comes with two sets of wheels and tires plus a new original size 60 spoke spare wire wheel with a new tubed Vredestein tire:

Chrome 72 spoke wire wheels  with new Kumho tires (with tubes).  (The original wheels are gone. except for a slightly damaged spare -- one spoke missing -- with a vintage tire which is included. )  The 72s were an option on the TR6 not the 4A but are much better wheels and look good. Period correct new silver Minilite style knock-off alloys with new Vredestein period correct type tubeless tires.    These wheels and tires have only a few hundred miles on them.

Suspension/Brakes
Rear shock conversion from levers to tubes (Koni).   DOne by a previous owner.   Moss style conversion.
Rebushed entire suspension with high performance bushings (much improved handling) Replaced front hub spindles with stronger ones Replaced front brake discs with superior versions (stock set provided) Replaced lower front suspension brackets with later. improved versions
Replaced rear trailing arm brackets with adjustable version
Replaced all springs with a matched set.  (Originals provided if desired. )

Drivetrain

Improved differential mount bushings (a weak spot in the original design)Replaced rear drive shafts with new high performance versions from Revington TR (worn originals provided)

Electrical System

Pertronix electronic ignitionNew batteryPre-wired for an electric fan.   (The car spent much of its life in Texas. )Added modern gear reduction starter (Original provided)Other
Installed correct (twin pipe) stainless exhaust systemInstalled spin-on oil filter conversion (Stock cartridge canister not present)Added an original style luggage rack.
Car comes with a small library of Triumph related books including Piggott's Original Triumph TR4/A/5/6. a $175 value.

Some areas for improvement: windshield wipers are slow and speedometer reads high.   Top has two small tears.
