Oldsmobile Toronado- First Generation

This very rare car was a sensation when General Motors released it in '65 for the '66 model year. being the first front wheel drive American car since the Cord of the '30s.

With its swoopy fastback and pronounced wheel arches. it looked like nothing else out there. The bold new grille for the '68 model year and the 455 engine really gave a new push. A muscle car. a bit like a grown up Camaro without the silly price-tag.

This particular car was bought almost new by a California resident who kept it until he passed at 93.   That's 35 years with one driver.
The old guy took it over to his daughter's home in Upstate New York. ate in life. amongst the Amish communities. where it stayed in the barn until it was traded by the family to the local Chevy dealer. where I came on the scene.
I spent over a $1000 with them having it refurbished. and in the depths of Winter this year. drove it to my holiday home in Palm Springs. California--2500 miles. with only one problem. the radiator blew at a Toll Plaza in Oklahoma in a rain storm . f course.
Brilliant American efficency had me back on the road the next day. new 4-core rad  fitted. The car regularly gave 20. 5 m. p. g. on the trip. I've got the receipts to prove it!
During my stay. I had extensive brake work done. including Master Cylinder and all Slave Cylinders. several brake pipes. and some exhaust work. lus numerous other little jobs.
The car was much admired. and I made lots of new friends. I drove the car 4500 miles all told. ad 3 oil changes. ut just the one breakdown. Good car!
I am not selling a concours show winner. like Jay Leno's magnificent Toro. but a great drivers car that you will feel proud to own and show off.
Reason for selling? - purely space. I have two other Americans. and a Jag to house. so one has to go. I have had great fun with this reliable Classic. it's ready for a new owner to love and cherish.
There are a few little jobs to take care of as you have time. but it has a brand new MOT. NO ADVISORIES and a 12 month tax free disc. It's on the button.
