It is with regret that i am listing my Triumph Stag for sale. beautiful condition having had thousands spent on restoration. all sensible offers will be seriously considered.  

Triumph Stag MK2. 98600 miles. finished to a high standard in almost floorless Flame red paintwork and Diamond bright paint treatment. Bare metal bodywork restoration completed in 2008 by Classic Carr in Bedfordshire costing many thousands. recent auto gearbox and torque converter rebuild. new German timing chains. sympathetic cooling system upgrade. re hose and recent service also completed. Original spec Triumph V8 engine sounds good through its stainless steel exhaust system and ticks over like a Swiss watch.   

This car starts. stops. steers and drives as it should and does not use Oil or Water. No rust whatsoever anywhere on the car. WaxoiIed throughout. not many cars on the market are such good all round condition at this price. viewing highly recommended.

The car has been dry stored in my heated garage and has been driven infrequently on sunny days only.  

Bad points. canvas hood is cosmetically and functionally good but has been professionally repaired in the past. there is a brand new canvas hood with the car which is still to be fitted. Rear bumper chrome is dull but not rusty. Passenger footwell light and Cigar lighter is not working and footwell carpets are those cheap ones.

Genuine reason for selling. a full 12 months MOT will be put on the car prior to collection. appointment booked for Friday next week. . Dateless registration and Hard top by separate negotiation if required.

In depth details

Triumph Stag registered new in UK  in September 1974. standard right hand drive car.

6 previous keepers with history file stretching back to 2003 including some photographs. ferry tickets and garage receipts showing the car went on a touring holiday finishing up in Majorca. Spain.

the last keeper was a private individual and a business partner in the renowned classic car restoration company (Classic Carr Ltd ) based in Sandy in Bedfordshire. he purchased the Stag for his own use on 26-04-2007 then put the car through a professional bare metal body restoration which was completed in 2008 and included:-

·         Removal of paint down to bare metal.

·         Preparation for re spray which included some minor welding.  

·         Primer then top coat of RAL3000 two pack flame red paint finish.

·         Full waxoil injection.

·         New water pump.

·         New steering rack.

·         New shock absorbers.

·         New brakes.

·         Stainless steel exhaust system.

·         Halogen light conversion.

The restoration job has paperwork to confirm that the work cost in excess of £5000gbp plus tax.

Soon after restoration the owner registered the car SORN because of personal difficulties. The car then sat garaged until I purchased the Stag some 5 years later.

The car is HPI clear confirming that the car had no finance against it. it had never been in an insurance registered accident and there was no anomalies with the mileage shown on the odometer.

A full under body inspection will reveal that the car is rust free and clean . such was the quality of the work completed. it was almost impossible to identify if panels had been replaced. I do however think that the wings have been replaced at some time because the spot welds on each front wing are a different size than original.         


Work completed since my ownership:-

·         New timing chains. tensioners. crank pulley and oil seal.

·         Water temperature sender.

·         Gearbox rebuild (still under warranty)

·         Good condition used oil cooler.

·         New coolant hoses.

·         New sun visors.

·         New fuel pipes in engine bay.

·         New engine breather hoses.

·         New steering wheel. old one is still available.

·         Re cored radiator with increased surface area. uplifted from 8 fins to 12 fins per inch.

·         New adapted coolant reservoir. standard on the Audi A4. fits nicely and allows gravity fill. visual coolant level and low level sensor . ensor is not wired in but is a minor job if required. coolant upgrade was done only because i was hoping to use the car for holidaying in Devon and I did not want to rely on the old suction type filler which was not very good. cooling can be put back to original in minutes.

·         Lumenition electronic ignition system.

·         Full oil and electrical service with new spark plugs. distributor cap/ rotor. fuel and oil filter.

This car was meant for long term ownership but unfortunately I'm moving to a new home which has no garage or parking. it would be a bad thing to have the car parked on the street.
