MOTODROME

motodrome are pleased to offer this gorgeous and very original left hand drive 1961 Jaguar Mark II 3. 4 manual with overdrive.

177315DN left Browns Lane on 16th June 1961 bound for Italy. where it lived for it's first 7 years before moving to Holland. Very unusually. it's seemingly been loved by all it's previous owners. and has never undergone a dubious restoration from a derelict heap. The last owner has had it for the past 22 years as part of a small collection. driven it sparingly. and maintained it correctly. to the extent that it's one of the nicest Mark II's to drive that I've ever come across.

The original engine (yes it's a matching numbers example) was professionally rebuilt in 1998. and it's covered a mere 26000km since.

Finished in the original Opalescent Silver Grey with tan leather. it's fitted with the later all-synchro gearbox. overdrive. chrome wire wheels shod with Vredestein Sprint tyres. sports spats. the rare reclining seat option. . electronic ignition. kenlowe fan. stainless exhaust. AED bypass switch. and period radio and front seatbelts.

On a 230km  test on arrival. (motorway. fast A roads and heavy standing traffic)  it performed absolutely faultlessly. It's clear that a great deal of attention has been lavished on her to ensure she's ‘just right'.

Currently on Dutch paperwork (so all EU taxes are paid) with the stringent Dutch APK (their version of the UK MOT) valid till mid-July 2018. We will however register it in the UK with a new MOT on sale. if required.

Further detail:

The body and paintwork on this one look really good  overall. with  nice deep paint. and it's totally straight down the sides. with beautifully fitting doors. However being 55 years old there are one or two blemishes here and there: a) some paint lifting/cracking just in front of the OSF sidelight. b) a small amount of bubbling on the edge of the NS scuttle. c) some bubbling (paint unbroken) to the base of the NSR door. and d) some bubbling on the OSF outer sill below the A post.  . I think the chrome is largely original hence there is a little pitting here and there. Wheels are in good shape. .      See the video below for a full appraisal of the bodywork

Interior – the seats. especially the front ones. can best be described as patinated. as it's the original leather. There are a few areas where it's been patched. worn etc. but it looks like my old Belstaff jacket that I won't part with. Obviously the front seats could be retrimmed but that might spoil the essence of the car in my opinion.  The front doorcards have a couple of patches  etc but the same applies.  The wood. carpets and headlining are all really nice. . All in all a  really nice place to be. and it exudes 'Jaguarness'.  All the instruments (bar the clock) work - the oil pressure gauge has been replaced with a more accurate one. .      See the video below for a full appraisal of the interior

Starts on the button and it performs without apparent fault didn't display any signs of misfiring.   hesitancy. overheating etc. with no untoward noises or dramas. just turbine-like power delivery and a sublime driving experience.  Nothing to criticise at all  - a great Mark II.   . Watch the video below to see it in action
