1965 Ford Mustang hardtop coupe
According to the vin and data code plates my early 65 Mustang coupe was built in the San Jose factory on the 19 February 1965 leaving for a Los Angeles dealership with Silver Smoke Grey Metallic paint and a Black Crinkle Vinyl standard Interior. nbsp;sporting a 200 ci (3277cc) 1v Inline 6 cylinder engine and C4 automatic transmission.
I purchased the Mustang from a Californian Police officer who lived in Fullerton CA at the beginning of this year. he had bought it as a present for his wife who after 6 months or so decided she wanted to keep her SUV. Women!!
According to the Officer the previous owner to him. who also lived in a suburb of Los Angeles (I think Fountain Valley) had had it a long time and restored it many years earlier. nbsp;unfortunately he wasn't sure of exact dates but looking at the paint my guess would be about 25-30 years ago.
Obviously the car has had paint but still has the 200 ci engine and C4 trans interior is still black.  As it's and early 65 car it shares some of the many "64 1/2" features. for instance 13" wheels. dash board. but has all the 65 improvements. The dashboard has not been cut for a modern stereo and still contains the original radio which I've not heard working. you'd probably only get country and western channels anyway!
As for the dreaded rust well there isn't any worth worrying about. for a 51 year old car the underneath is amazing. sills. torque boxes. floors. bulkhead. spring hangers. all solid!I have found a few bubbles on a flange where the floor overlaps the bulkhead nothing serious but some time in the future will need to be dealt with. this area is a common rust spot on Mustangs. Picture link of the underneath is at the bottom of this page
Though the history is vague I think it's spent its whole life in the Los Angeles area of California and the cars rust free condition would seem to confirm this or at least somewhere hot. The down side to a hot State is the paint fades and interior cracks due to the heat and my Mustang has slightly faded paint a cracked dash pad and some of the seat stitching has let go so would benefit from a set of new covers which I have and will include for the full asking price. that said it's still very presentable and certainly gets admired.
Several new parts have recently been fitted. 4 tyres. brake flexi's. fuel pump. etc The engine bay had been steam cleaned but never detailed hence the red/blue engine paint. Bright work is good but rear bumper is slightly bent in. Since arriving in the UK I have MOT'd it and registered with the DVLA who gave it an age related number with a pre-fix of C. I have the V5c here with me in my name and address. I mot'd it back at the beginning of June and since then barely driven it. that said the mileage will go up as time and work permits. Being a six cylinder mpg is good and it handles UK roads with ease
My Mustang attracts attention on the road so you'll get admiring glances and thumbs up wherever you drive it and is a conversation starter in any pub beer garden  seems everyone loves a mustang!
FinallyMustang is in Devon and viewing is encouraged. Collection. Insure it and drive home I don't care where you live I'm sure it would make any long road trip if driven with care. Or at your cost I have details of a local recovery company I have used  in the past and found them to be competitive. careful and prompt. Price is £9750onoIf you have to run it by the wife you could always try telling her you're buying a pony :-)I'm happy to answer your question preferably by phone and will consider all offers.
