With a performance-built 460ci V8. four-wheel disc brakes. and a host of other go-fast goodies. this 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 is already you're favorite sleeper muscle car. But then the great red/white paint. spacious interior. and affordable price let you really know how irresistible this one-of-a-kind classic really is.


Ford hit the styling out of the ballpark on this Galaxie with crisp lines and those big. round taillights that reflected the '60s enthusiasm for the jet age. Newer paint went down over well-prepped sheetmetal. and even on those massive quarter panels. there's nary a ripple. Owning a Galaxie was about showing off Ford's top-of-the line. and that's seen in great brightwork on places like the double strips that run the full length of the car. concave grille. and Thunderbird-inspired c-pillar. In fact. that last piece provides a great separating line between the red and white to give this an iconic two-tone hardtop appearance. This all looks like a great factory-correct appearance. right down to the steelie wheels with hubcaps. But if you look closely. they give a hint at the big power surprise (more on that in a moment. )


The red interior does a great job of matching the exterior color and quality. The seat covers. carpets. door panels. headliner. dash pad. and floor mats are all brand new. This level of care is fantastic to see in the top-of-the-line. full-sized Ford. There's plenty of great bright trim incorporated into the weave of the door panels and seats. which makes this a very cool place to send some time. As a family-sized car of the '60s. you'll have no trouble fitting a group of five comfortably. But even if you're driving all alone. this Ford provides lots of appeal. The three-spoke steering wheel with bright inner trim is a vintage Ford favorite. and so is the long horizontal speedometer flanked by the round gauge pods. In the trunk. you'll spot the correct floor mat and spare. but the battery mounded back here is yet another clue to the performance under the hood.


One look in the engine bay. and you can tell there is something very special inside. You could get a big block in your Galaxie in 1963. but it still wasn't as enormous as what you're looking at today. Lincoln's 460 cubic-inch V8 seems to fit nicely within those polished red fender walls. But there's also a good reason why this looks so nice and fresh in the engine bay. and that's because this is a fully-built performance big block. It includes TRW pistons. Crane Street Grind hydraulic cam. Crane aluminum rockers. Weiand intake. and Holley 750 CFM four-barrel carburetor. It's fortified with components like MSD Pro Billet distributor. Painless wiring harness. upgraded starter. Griffin radiator. and dual electric fans. This monster motor growls to life thanks to ceramic-coated header feeding the Flowmaster dual exhaust. Getting all this power to the road is no problem thanks to the Jet Performance C6 four-speed automatic transmission that feeds the stout Ford 9-inch rear end running 3. 50 gears. There's even wider 255/70R15 on the rear to keep more rubber on the road. But more than just street-eating power and the right components backing it up. this Galaxie feels great driving down the road. The front and rear suspension have been completely rebuilt to include new springs. new KYB shocks front & rear. and new Moog ball joints. bushings. etc. Plus with the upgrade to four-wheel disc brakes. power steering. and overdrive gear on the transmission. this Galaxie is generations ahead of the other vintage full-size coupes out there.
