Meet Kermit my 73 Kombi camper. I have had him now for about 18 months. just slowly fixing him up. I am a crazy VW fanatic. I have two other Kombis and a superbug. I had wanted to keep Kermit for camping trips. but circumstances change and I now want to scale it back to one or two VW's and I will be keeping and restoring my 71 lowlight instead.
The best thing about Kermit is that he isn't a recent restoration. The paint was done about 8 years ago by the previous owner so you can be confident that there are no hidden nasties underneath. What you see is what you get with Kermit. and that is next to no rust. other than a couple of very small bits in the side windows. Nothing in the chassis. doglegs. battery tray etc etc. it's all very clean.  It is a converted panel van though so it doesn't have the nasty window rails that get eaten away underneath the window rubber. Like I say. what you see is what you get.
I have had Kermit undercover in my shed for the last 18 months and prior to that the previous owner had him in her Garage for the 8 years she owned him so he hasn't seen a lot of the weather.
Mechanically he runs great. I believe he originally had a 1600. but the previous owners replaced it with a new 1800. though I'm unsure how many miles are on it. I have just done a lot of work to get it running great again and make it ready for rego.
- Adjust handbrake- Replace distributor- Plugs. leads points- Oil and filter- Adjust clutch- Tuning. including timing and carby adjustment- Replace pushrod tube seals (No oil leaks now)
I have also redone the interior with new door cards. new wooden floor and reupholstered seats with a rock-n-roll bed/seat in the back.
I will be getting a NSW roadworthy/blue slip so it will be ready to register and drive away. I have asked the blue slip inspector and it will be registrable as a 4/5 seater in NSW.
I could write a whole lot more about Kermit. but it's best if you give me a call and we can have a chat. My number is: 0431-885-082.
Kermit is in Somersby on the Central Coast near Gosford. only 30mins drive from Hornsby in Sydney.
