Up for sale is this 1987 E-registration Porsche 944S 16V. It is a low mileage (just 68. 00 miles) and low ownership car (just 2 keepers. last changed keeper when nearly new so last recorded owner since 1988). as well as being the rare '944 S' model with the 16V engine.

I bought the car back in May 2014 as a project. it had been long-term stored in a garage in London and had been there for over 10 years. so when I bought it. it had no MOT and had simply been standing in a dry garage. I bought it with the intention of a full recommission etc. A huge amount of mechanical work has been done including getting it MOT'd etc (will list what has been done below) and the car drives well. but it still needs minor bits as well as cosmetics to finish off.

The car is HPI clear and has just 2 recorded keepers (1 previous. last change of keeper 14th July 1988!). from all the paperwork I have the mileage corresponds and is believed genuine - the condition of the steering wheel/underbody/engine bay etc is in keeping with this.

Underneath the car has never been welded and is solid.

The bodywork is the main thing that needs doing although not actually too bad. but there are some areas of lacquer peel (to bonnet front panel. front bumper. bit on the offside wing etc) and the worst bit is a rust patch below the offside rear light. The original clear vinyl stonechip protectors have crazed and look a mess. these really want replacing or covering over with black versions. They are not the easiest things to remove as they have crazed into lots of horrible sticky pieces but all that is required is patience. Overall you could make it extremely tidy without spending a great deal. just a few localised blow ins and replace the stone guards. or as was my original intention. have a proper respray done on the whole thing to make lovely. It is worth noting the vast majority (if not all) of the current paintwork appears to be original.

Internally the car is very original with the original Panasonic radio/cassette player and period ‘British Telecom' brick mobile phone kit! Not too much to do in here other than a clean. and replacing the cloth on the driver's seat outer bolsters (just need to get the correct fabric and find a trimmer). The boot carpet mat has also had something spilled on it. ideally this would be replaced too.

Since I've had it about £4. 00 (yes. really……) has been spent on it (not including what was paid for the car) - the main bits as follows:

Sent original ‘teledial' alloys to Lepsons alloy refubishers for full refurbishment – these are now perfect
4 brand new Continental ContiSport tyres fitted
All four brake calipers were removed and sent off to be refurbished and coated
New brake discs and pads all round
New shock absorbers and springs all round
New beige Autostyle carpet mats
Replace various corroded fuel lines
New brake hoses
Full service
New spark plugs
All filters (fuel. air. oil etc)
New HT leads
New distributor cap and rotor arm
New cambelts fitted and water pump
New windscreen washer pump
Re align anti roll bar
Recommission and bleed power steering
MOT etc

Since all this work has been done I don't even think the car has covered 100 miles. nbsp;I took it for a 20 mile drive to recharge the battery and it drives well. however I have not done a long drive in it and it has not been for one presumably for a very long time. I would suggest that it is taken away on a trailer if you are travelling long distance

The car has a long MOT. this expires 31st July 2017. it went through with no advisories. There is currently no V5 document. nbsp;it did come with the old style blue V5 and the car is currently 'in trade' (yellow slip). so it has still only 2 recorded keepers. last keeper change was July 1988! I have not applied for a new V5 in the company name as this will add another owner. nbsp;I am more than happy to obtain one prior to sale in our name for the buyer if desired. or in my opinion it would be better for the new owner to just apply for a new V5 with DVLA using a V62 form. You will obviously need to wait for this to come through before you are able to tax it.

I'm fairly sure quite a bit of other stuff has been done but I'm writing this off the top of my head so cannot honestly remember! I have parts receipts and invoices for all the work that has been carried out. It is clear that most of the hard work has been done….

The car runs well. the only thing to note is the idle is very up and down. I believe this to be the idle control valve. this has not been replaced. however once on the road it drives well.

Like I say. mainly cosmetics to finish. I wanted to make it absolutely perfect hence why I went a bit bonkers with the initial spend. however I no longer have time to finish it and am so busy with the normal business (modern prestige cars 2-6 years old) that I just don't have the time to do much with this. So you can enjoy it straight away and just do bits and pieces as and when if you want to make it really special. or just get the paintwork and driver's seat done and have a very special car that will probably only go one way in value……

The car is located in Bury St Edmunds. Suffolk. Viewings and test drives encouraged. I am selling this at a big loss to what I have spent in total. and 944 values have risen since I've bought it. so no silly offers please! The car stands in at over 7k. and 944 values have risen considerably since this was purchased!

Lastly. I would encourage viewings prior to serious bids unless you are very comfortable with my description. I have tried to be as honest as possible as to the condition but this is a 30 year old car nearly - one mans expectations are different from another. so please come and view if you are able to prior to auction end
