The Chevrolet Corvette has always been know as the "Great American Sports Car. but the truth is that the tiny. no frills Hot Shot was actually the first real post war sports car to be assembled on U. S. soil and less than 2. 00 examples were produced between 1949 to 1952. The Crosley Radio Corporation was the largest radio manufacturer in the world and Powell Crosley  leveraged his skills across many ventures. Crosley vehicles were built from 1939 to 1952. This 1951 Hot Shot Super Sport rides on an 85-inch wheel base chassis. At the corners were little 4. 5 x 12 tires with the spare mounted above the back bumper due to the lack of a trunk!  The small hood lid conceals a 26 horsepower. 44 cubic inch 4 cylinder with a cast-iron block. 3 speed manual transmission. and disk brakes. The Crosley cars were among the most nimble performers on the road. and at $849 brand new were not a lot of money. To really spruce things up. buyers could add a heater and defroster. radio. antenna. bumpers guards. seat covers and turn signals. This nice little red Hot Shot comes with a rag top.
