I bought the car earlier this year as a standard 1600 sport from south africa. So it has all the strengthening plates etc as notmal african shells do.  I had no intention of doing anytging to it until i was offered a diff engine. Along came a race spec xflow. So as follows is everything i have done to the car.
Engine:1600 xflow engine. ebuilt. ew sumps seals. askets etc. ported and polished head. ightened and balanced crank. ent fast road cam. 1300 pistons with uprated rings. Running between 130/140hp. Uprated harris 22 lightened pulleys and toothed belt. Burton alloy rocker cover. Rebuilt twin weber 40 carbs. etted specifically to this engine. new joint plate. spring washers. jets. needles. imig set up. all done by seditas cars.  Brand new high torque starterbrand new alternator. Rewired and cleaned loom. New battery. New oil catch tank with new hoses. Brand new fuel lines with stainless fittings. Brand new alloy radiator. New Fse fuel pressure regulator with guage. ew facet red top fuel pump wired through ignition. New oil breather. Lumenition electronic ignition. ll new inc. izzy setup. magnecor ht leads. all new plugs. Sportex full stainless exhaust. inc. ashley 4-1 stainless manifold which is heat wrapped.

Brand new Full cosworth rear disc conversion onto english axle. Brand new copper/braided lines and fittings front to back. All new unions. New Wilwood bias pedal box with wilwood cylinders front and rear. New flexihoses up to new ap resovoir bottles. Pdg hydraulic handbrake setup with upright lever.  
Chassis:Brand new sportex coilovers on the front with uprated springs and dampners. Polybushed rear leaf seats. Polybushed rear arm mounts. Rear 2 inch alloy lowering blocks. New condition 13x 8" aleycat lightweight alloys. With brand new yokohama tyres. Lightweight wheel nuts. Relatively new track rod ends. Car is going in this week to get geometry set up.  
Running gear:Recondition 4 speed close cut gearbox. New seals etc. new uprated gearbox mount. English axle conversion. With rebuilt and machined half shafts to accepts discs with brand new crown wheel pinion bearing. nner and outer bearings and wheel bearings. Brand new Tranx by quaiffe limited slip diff. itted by precision engineering in inverness. ith backlash pre set. The axle cost alone is around £2k with disks on! Uprated drive shaft. New gearlever setup with machined gear knob.  
Inside:Safety devices half rollcage with welded uprated plates. Firewall bulkhead fitted. Sparco cloth fixed back bucket seats. With brand new trs 3 point harnesses with all welded plates and latch points. Part carpeted. momo alcantara steering wheel and boss. New clocks. Carbon fibre doorcards with new grab handles. New tim voltmeter and oil pressure gauge all working. New dah clocks. with new bulbs. Everything works apart from rev counter.  
Outside:Finished in south african blue. think it had a respray not long before coming over here. ts in pretty good condition although there is a crack on the bonnet and rear quarter. Scratches on roof from a box with staples being pulled off it. Some bubly bits of paint but it is an old car now. Also the propshaft could do with new uj on it as gearstick rattles above 60 mph. There is a knocking noise at thefront but the only thing that hasnt been changed is the anti roll bar bushes so i will be ordering them and fitting them asap. Just had a carbon fibre rear spoiler made and fitted. There has been welding done to the car and anything that was deemed rusty was cut out and replaced. It has been undersealed underneath aswell. All doors close well and in line. Has uprated h4 headlights and deep chin spoiker. All arches are in good condition. And sills. Overall a solid little car. Pretty much most of it is new.  
 an amazing car on the road but fords arent really my thing and i have always fancied another mk1 golf. I have spent the best part of £7-£8k on the car in the past 6 months. ot including buying it. Just been to seditas cars to be professionally tuned and carbs set up. It sounds amazing out on the road.  I have been honest as i know anyone that wants to view the car wont want to be mucked about.
