Welcome to the sale of our gorgeous classic Daimler 420 saloon.

First registered in 1969 so is 47 years old and in great shape.

Passed it's mot with no advisories and is solid as a rock underneath and requires no welding.

All the tyres are pretty new and the car drives and brakes perfectly straight with no pulling or wobbling.

We bought the car about 6 months ago with no engine as the previous owner removed it and sent it to a specialist repair centre for repairs who then went bust and the engine disappeared!

We bought a low mileage. (65000miles) donor car which was a 1984 series 3 xj6. The engine and box were really sweet. no noises no smoke. it ran perfect in every way to transplant into the 420.

The transplant went really well and the car runs perfect. The only thing we had to do was add a separate electric switch for the choke which you simply switch on and off as required.

While the engine was out we cleaned up and blacked the engine bay and cleaned. serviced. upgraded all the ancillaries etc and everything looks lovely under the bonnet.

The car underwent a complete bare metal respray a few years before we bought it and we have a full photographic album showing the extensive work undertaken.

The paintwork as held up really well and it is a top quality finish. inside the doors and under the bonnet and boot etc. the only thing to mention is that there are a few slight bubbly scabs starting to show right at the bottom of a couple of the doors and slight cracking to the front "shelf" behind the bumper.

It has had a complete stainless steel exhaust fitted with lifetime guarantee which sounds lovely.

The steel wheel have the correct chrome hub caps with embellisher rings in good condition.

All the chrome brightwork is in very good condition and is as good as it looks in the pictures. which is often not the case with classic cars!!

All the electrics work fine. both fuel tank pumps change over perfectly. and the gauges work correctly apart from the obligatory bouncing or sticky speedo sometimes!

The interior is in good shape compared to most of this year. the red leather is pretty good apart from some cracks and splits in the drivers seat. The door cards are a bit wrinkly and the interior door pull handles need recovering at the front. The rear carpets are pretty good but it would really benefit from at least a new front set.

The door and boot key locks are a pain and usually are more trouble than its worth to try and lock them but we have got a couple of new locks which will be included. It didn't bother us much as we rarely leave it unattended and it's stored indoors.

We bought the car originally with the intention of doing proms and weddings. which it would be perfect for but decided we really couldn't dedicate the time and effort into setting it up so apart from a couple of family proms we've only really used it for local shows. It gets loads of attention and everyone loves the car but we have quite a few classics and not enough drivers or time to get full use from it.

The car is totally reliable and could be driven anywhere. there is no need to collect on a trailer or recovery truck unless you live miles away and don't fancy the fuel bill. It is a pleasure to drive and certainly puts a smile on your face as people wave and point as you "waft" by.

We cannot offer or imply any warranty on the car. as with all classics there will always be bits to do and bits that will fail and break no matter how good they are. it's just the nature of old cars.

The Daimler version of the 420 is probably more rare now than the Jaguar and in my opinion they are a better looking front end with the fluted grille etc.

I am not new to Ebay and have probably heard most of the scams. so I will not be letting you pay by paypal and loading it onto your recovery truck and I don't really know much about exporting so if you are exporting it you will have to make your own arrangements after full payment has been received.

The v5 is in my name and the car is taxed but obviously you will have to re-apply for your own road tax due to the Dvla implementing their useless rip off system and not allowing me to just pass it on to the buyer.
