Morris Minor Split Screen 1956
in outstanding condition

This low mileage car is the very last of the split screen minors and is probably the most beautiful with it's early style small rear window. small lamps and the split window screen design.   The car has received a huge amount of time and expense to restore into the condition you see today.

I have owned this car for over 3 years and during that time I have restored and serviced it to a very high standard.   During those three years the car has done over 1500 miles and all problems have been taken care of.   The car benefited from a full restoration back in 1993 when £4500 was spent on the bodywork. repairs and the fitting of a reconditioned engine.   Between the 1993 restoration and myself purchasing the car. the Morris Minor covered less than 1200 miles and spent more time in storage.

I am a EX-Land Rover engineer with over 20 years experience working with motor vehicles. all work on this vehicle is to a very high standard.   The car has been re-commissioned at a cost of almost £1500 which includes replacing all the tyres. the brakes. service work. powder coating the wheels and some recent paintwork.   The car comes with a huge amount of paperwork documenting the restoration work and a large quantity of previous MOT's to support the low mileage of 40. 70 miles

The car has been fitted quality 145/80 R14 Bridgestone tyre's which are the closest match to the original tyre's. the steering has been set up with laser alignment and the car is a joy to drive with it's precise steering.

Brakes have been replaced and set up correctly to give sharp and confident braking

The engine is the 803cc A-Series and has been fully serviced and runs very smoothly.

The oil's in the gearbox and back axle have been replaced and all work as they should. without any noise issues.

Steering and Suspension on this car are all in good order with minimal play.

The car bodywork is in outstanding condition for the age of the car. some chrome work has been replaced and the car has just had some recent new paintwork to treat some minor paint blemishes from the previous 1993 restoration.   The black paintwork has deep shine and is very good condition. even inside the engine bay.   The wheels were powder coated in 'old English white'

The car interior is mostly original. just opening the door and sitting inside the car takes you back to the 1950's.   The carpet set has been replaced but everything else inside the car is just original.   The driver's seat does have a small tear in the backrest but it has had over 50 years use.   This car interior has been well preserved rather than replaced.   The car is fitted with a small round SMITHS heater.

The car benefits from a replacement wiring harness and still retains the beautiful 'tear drop' rear lamps and the small Lucas side lights.   For safety reasons the semaphore trafficators have been disconnected and small period indicator lamps have been fitted on brackets above the bumpers.   The bodywork has not been cut up or modified in anyway to fit these lamps.   This car correctly has an interior mirror and has not been modified with any bolt on wing mirrors.

This is a classic car and benefits from costing nothing to TAX as it is classed as an historic vehicle. the vehicle being built before 1960 no longer requires an MOT. the car is covered with classic car insurance and costs me around £85 a year.   Motoring does not get any cheaper than this.

If you wish to own a classic car then this would make a great investment.

The car is stored inside a garage 7 miles south of Stratford upon Avon. postcode CV37 8XB
