OK - here's the skinny!
I brought this onece in a lifetime find in from North Carolina in 2006. I got it from the famous Lewis Jenkins collection - he's the famous Buick and Cadillac guy who also owns the Driving Miss Daisy car. nbsp;Glenn Miller's car and a Buick that has a bullet hole from Pearl Harbor in '41.
I paid $35. 00 for the car + import duties and taxes. My reserve on this auction is more than 30% less than the price I paid for it.
The car's value is established in the fact that it is in this condition. and yet it HAS NEVER been restored.
And I mean NEVER. No repaints. no new carpets. no new upholstery. no new glass. This is therefore a historical important vehicle. The car was owned from new by a North Carolina couple who had it from '41 till their deaths. The dealer was Lewis Jenkins' father. Then when the original owners died. nbsp;Lewis Jenkins himself. a WWII bomber pilot. brought it back into his collection. The car has 37800 miles and a detailed service history. As the second official owner. I put up about 3. 00 of these miles. the rest were put up pre 1970.
You can actually play your 1940s playlist directly thru the Sonomatic radio. there is a auxiliary jack which feeds directly to the ORIGINAL speaker. So it's iPod comparable!
The engine is whisper quiet! The car honks its horn like straight out of a Bogart movie.
What needs attention:- antenna top part is loose - I have a OEM replacement- some minor pitting on bumpers - paint over rear license plate is weak (my advice - don't mess with originality!!)- fuel tank needs to be emptied and cleaned of grit - car sits indoors for long stretches
