Porsche 924 Turbo Mk 2 1981

The car is a MKII finished in its original metallic  Schwarz  bodywork and black pinstripe interior with even rarer air conditioning and removable roof panel.   The car has excellent tyres and wheels.   I have the original Turbo rims and they will be included in this sale. The car will also be sold with the Private Plate.

Engine. gearbox. differential  and body numbers are original and correct

History

I bought this car in 1994 with around  95. 00 miles and 6 previous owners.   At that time the car was always going to be a ‘keeper'.   I invested a large sum of money into the car and it was maintained without regard for cost.

The car was involved in an accident in 1997 where it was 'side swiped'  the rear right hand wing. right door and front wing where damaged. The car was not registered as a 'write off' and  I have carried out my own HPI check which I'm happy to send to interested buyers free of charge. Using new and second hand parts a repair was carried out  to a very high standard. The car was re- sprayed and all rubbers. lights and badges were replaced. the car had  a genuine Porsche 968 club sport rear spoiler and a custom chin spoiler to fitted to accommodate the intercooler.   This can be viewed on inspection.

The engine was completely rebuilt using OEM parts and new genuine urbo  pistons.   The crank shaft.  flywheel & rods were balanced.   I then had an air to water to air intercooler installed by 930 Motorsport .   The work was carried out as not to disturb the air conditioning and also that it can be converted back to original specifications. (these parts will be included as part of the sale). It also had a new clutch and all associated parts.

The car also had the turbo charger internally upgraded and this with the intercooler gave increased engine output and quicker 'spooling up'. Unfortunately the turbo charger did not seem reliable and failed twice.   The first time I replaced it and the second time I gave up!! The car ran although with smoke from the turbo charger it was taken off the road in 2005.

I took the battery out of the car. it was moved around my garage and finally as my interests changed it was put outside.

Present.

I was always going to replace the turbo and get it drivable  but I now have to except that this isn't going to happen and leaving the car outside will mean it will slowly deteriorate and I would rather the car was back on the road as it is a very special vehicle.

The bodywork is still in very good condition. the only marks I can see are two very small dents in the LHS rear panel & four 5mm diameter chips in variouspanels. plus one 30mm long thin scratch just above a trim piece  at the right rear quarter through to the etch primer. The top of the dashboard is cracked. this is a common defect.

I have started the car this week and it runs however it smokes due to the turbo failure. The turbo presently fitted is the original Turbo. it had an upgraded turbine installed however I believe that the body internally is the same. I would recommended having it rebuilt again but with a standard turbine if that was the problem. I will endeavour to fix the lost electrical supply during week.

As the car does not an MOT . I am unable to drive it on the road however there is a parking area nearby where I have driven it and the brakes work as does the clutch gearbox and handbrake. steering  etc.

There is a little official Porsche service history. I did a lot of work myself or it was carried out a Porsche specialist  I kept an extensive record of the work done and I can email the 'word' document to you if you are interested. I replaced most parts and I vauguely remember stopping adding it up when I got to around £10. 00 !

There are a large number of bills and my notes and lists of works that I carried out on the car.   I think I have some of the MOT's verifying  the mileage.

If I have left out any detail or you have further questions please feel free to ask. I can send more pictures if required.

Please note I have been unable to switch off the 14 days returns policy. this is not available on this sale.
