1923 Stutz Model K "Baby" Combination Fire Truck. For the 1923 model year. Stutz offered both a large size firetruck and the smaller Model K. The smaller firetrucks were often used in big cities where the larger trucks could not be easily maneuvered. The Model K firetruck shared many of the same mechanical components as the Stutz passenger cars including the same four- cylinder. overhead valve. 80 horsepower engine used in the sporty Stutz vehicles including the famous Bearcat. Today. very few small-size Stutz firetrucks exist and those that are remain in private collections or museums.

This example was recently purchased from an estate where it was in long term ownership. It is largely complete with a Sterling hand crank siren. hand hammered copper water tank. spot Light. bell. ladders. hoses. hose nozzles. US gauges. windshield. nbsp;etc.   The pump assembly is missing but this example takes a Northern pump which was found on many other fire apparatuses of this period. The engine turns over nicely but we have not been able to get any spark to try to start it. The engine appears complete and retains a period correct brass updraft carburetor and a magneto ignition system with a  brass Bosch coil ignition switch .   The drivetrain also appears to be complete and in good original condition. The wood spoke wheels are very solid and clean and retain their original brass hubcaps. This firetruck can be mechanically serviced and enjoyed in its current condition or would be a great basis for an easy restoration.

Small size firetrucks from the 1920s are extremely rare and quite desirable as they are easy to drive. easy to transport and easy to store.   This truck has an overall length of  approx. 21. 6 feet. an overall width of approx. 6. 2 feet and height of approx. 7. 6 feet. Remove four bolts holding bell and the height reduces to approx. 6. 8 feet. This truck will easily fit in a normal size garage. This firetruck is being sold with a bill of sale only. no title. $1000. 00 due within 24 hours of close of auction. Payment due five days after close of auction.
