Ford Escort Mk3 1985 GL – Repair Project with Lots of Extra Spares

For sale is this 1985 Mk 3 Escort GL – one below the Ghia spec. I bought it last year and got a year of fun out of it. This was running until June this year when the near-side rear wishbone corroded. It runs but the back wheel wobbles! 
It has no MOT and is currently declared off-road with a SORN – the buyer will need to arrange to have it picked up. The selling price is £1000 but I am open to offers. The car is sold as seen in the knowledge that it requires work; no guarantee is implied or given.

It was my intention to fully strip and rebuild this car to factory condition. Sadly. real life has taken over.

Good Points

The engine. gearbox and other mechanics are in very good condition. The car was given a full service when it was put back on the road last year and runs well. At present the car has 37. 66 miles; new tyres were fitted at 34. 00 miles and are in excellent condition. A new battery was fitted and the exhaust was welded at this time too.

The interior is in near-immaculate condition. The back seats look like they have hardly been sat on. The front dashboard has three tiny cracks on the driver's side. There are two tiny rips on some of the lining at the back but that's really all I can see. There is the passenger's headrest missing but I have two Recaro ones which are included in the sale. The chrome and rubbers on the outside of the car are in excellent condition too. The car has only done 37. 66 miles and you can feel it. As soon as the car is up to temperature. it runs brilliantly.  

Bad Points
Like all Fords. there is the inevitable rust on the bodywork - it needs welding in the wheel arches and sills. While out for a drive. my friend drove into the back of it (we are still friends!) so the boot floor has been impacted – luckily a spare from another scrapped car comes with it. You will see in the pictures that the near-side passenger door has had some welding done it - a new door skin is provided.
