With the BMW M4 GTS. BMW M GmbH presents a fascinating high-performance automobile that continues the tradition of legendary special models based on the BMW M3.

The automobile was conceived with an eye for trailblazing technology and a keen focus on the racetrack – as demonstrated by its lap time of 7 minutes 28 seconds on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. At the same time. it is fully road-legal. The limited production number of just 700 enhances the exclusive nature of the 
BMW M4 GTS.

Motorsport technology for the road: The BMW M4 GTS features the innovative water injection system that has already provided a significant output and torque boost in the BMW M4 MotoGP Safety Car. The water is injected into the plenums of the intake manifold as a fine spray.

When the water vaporises. the intake air cools significantly. As a result. the final compression temperature in the combustion chamber – and therefore the engine's tendency to “knock” – is reduced. enabling the M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine to use higher boost pressure and earlier injection timing. This technology ensures an increase in output and torque. while at the same time reducing the thermal stress on performance-relevant components.

The chassis. front splitter and rear wing are manually adjustable. ensuring perfect aerodynamic balance and allowing the vehicle to be to be adapted for both individual racetracks and for use on the road.

The M-specific 3-way coilover suspension with modified stabilizers and the milled aluminium swivel bearings enable the suspension to be lowered continuously up to a maximum of 20 mm at the front and 17 mm at the rear. and the damping can also be adjusted to suit the current driving situation. The compression level can be adjusted separately to enable quicker or slower compression.

The M double-clutch transmission with Drivelogic is an innovative 7-speed double-clutch transmission specially designed for the BMW M high-rev engine. The system boasts a traction-optimised automatic gear selection. Launch Control. Low Speed Assistant. as well as an Automatic Start/Stop function. It makes it possible to change gears extremely quickly without any loss in power. Two sub-transmissions. each with its own clutch. continuously relay the power of the engine to the rear wheels. Gear changes can be controlled automatically or manually using the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel. or the gear lever. Drivelogic can be automatically (D Drive mode) or manually (S sequential mode) controlled. and in each mode three shifting options are available: extremely sporty. comfortable or efficient.

Just as with Launch Control. which allows maximum acceleration from a standing start. an extremely dynamic driving experience is the result: shifting gears at high speed is possible without using the clutch and without any interruption in the power delivery. The transmission management and integrated Launch Control are matched to the higher power output and increased torque of the M4 GTS.

Exclusive carbon components lend the vehicle perfectly balanced weight distribution and aerodynamics with adjustable downforce. Other parts in the CFRP look include. aside from the rear diffusor. a rear wing on an aluminium base with adjustable wing piece. and a front splitter that is also adjustable.

The paintwork of the CFRP front bonnet matches the body colour. e. g. in exclusive BMW Individual Frozen Dark Grey metallic. The accent on the front splitter in Acid Orange creates an effective contrast. Forged and gloss-lathed M light alloy wheels Star-spoke style 666 M in Acid Orange round off the athletic appearance. 19" at the front and 20" at the rear and with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. they are designed for maximum performance.

One available option for maximum performance is the ultra-light M Carbon Compound wheels. They have an innovative CFRP aluminium composite construction. with dimensions of 9. 5 J x 19 (front axle) and 10. 5 J x 20 (rear axle).

The BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line equipment details were extended to include a front ornamental grille and gill elements in Black high-gloss. Rear lights with OLED (organic light-emitting diode) technology are used for the first time. giving this high-performance special model a whole new look when night falls.

The weight-optimised centre console features a top-quality Alcantara trim with contrast stitching in Dark Grey. as does the handbrake lever.

The distinctively shaped door and side panels are constructed from lightweight material made from sustainable raw materials and weigh only half as much as the standard parts. Door handle loops with M stripes replace the standard door handles. The armrests come in high-quality Alcantara. The striking interior trim finishers in Alcantara anthracite with perforated GTS designation in Acid Orange round off the interior.

The M Sport steering wheel in Double-spoke design with multifunction buttons. the M emblem and an integrated driver airbag is destined for use on the racetrack. The steering wheel rim in Alcantara with contrast stitching and contoured thumb rests feels great in the hand. A 12 o'clock marking provides orientation during dynamic driving and the driver can also use the M Drive buttons to select the desired settings whilst driving.
