1963 Triumph Vitesse 6 Saloon

The Triumph Vitesse was introduced on 25 May 1962. re-using a name previously used by the pre-Second World War Triumph company from 1936–38. and was an in-line 6-cylinder performance version of the Triumph Herald small saloon. Triumph fitted a 1596 cc version of their traditional straight-6 derived from the engine used in the Standard Vanguard Six to ensure a throaty straight six sound. paired with the great aesthetic design of the Vitesse.

This vehicle reads to be a Genuine. low owner/low mileage example. History supplied shows 3 former keepers from new. backed up and documented in the form of photocopies of the original logbook issued upon first registration in 1963. along with copies of the Swansea registered log books from 1976. Owned locally to our premises since first registered on the 18th of May 1963 to a Mr James William-Lowe of Priory Close. Newark. who we believe sold the vehicle on to the second owner (Mrs Edith Rosemary Wood of Sunningdale Drive. Woodborough) in 1980. She then changed the vehicle into her husband's name (Clive Wood) in 1981 who resided at the same address.

Mr Clive Wood then owned the car until 2011 where during ownership he did various amounts of maintenance and restoration work (again fully documented) during the mid 1990's before going onto selling the vehicle to the current keeper on the logbook in 2011.

Various valuation certificates supplied with the vehicle to back up the mileage reading (currently reading 71398 miles) which we believe is genuine. and although we are unable to warrant this professionally. the mileage reading does nevertheless in our view reflect both the way this very genuine car looks. and indeed drives (no knocks. bangs. whines or rattles) the power delivery is smooth along with the gear changes including (unusually) synchromesh. and it also starts easily from both hot and cold. Perhaps now getting to the point of needing light attention here and there to the aesthetics. this car is nevertheless completely solid and in excellent mechanical condition (currently supplied with 12 months MOT) with an excellent aged patina. We would suggest therefore that whilst some might say it would benefit from minor cosmetic work to the body. others would no doubt argue that any vehicle like this one. being in such lovely overall original condition. hould be left as it is!

Viewing is highly recommended. perfect for a summer cruiser and sensibly priced at £3995
