1968 aston martin dbs rare classic car project (amv8 am v8 vintage)only 787 made

1968 Aston martin DBS – the last of the david brown Astons!

I bought this about a year ago with the intention of getting it back on the road as a reliable and powerful daily driver using an svt cobra 32v v8 engine that I also have listed separately for sale. I am selling because i have just been down graded to a really small garage which isnt even big enough to open the doors of the car once its in!! so obviously not enough space for a restoration! :(

This car is number 235 of around 787 built its quite a bit rarer than a DB5!! It is also the same model as used in James bond. on her majesty's secret service so its well worth getting back on the road as prices for these done can already be seen for around 60-100k! there is another 1968 on ebay for 

I have already spent thousands on this one in new parts. this includes…

-all  necessary rust repair panels made by puddle duck Aston martin

- new front bush/joint kit from Aston martin costing around £450!

- brake calipers rebuilt by bigg red. enamel coated re-bored new seals and pistons new brake pads

- master cylinder rebuild

- new automec brake pipes kit

-new stainless braided brake hose kit

- restored dash with all correct gauges in either restored or new condition

-dash wood redone

-2 new avon tires included

-new fuel door filler locks

-nos stainless side strake

-all door seals

-i have some receipts

about the car-

-good headliner

-good dashtop

- I have some spare seat panels to the original interior can be cleaned up but will need carpet. rear seats are very nice. excuse the pics as I removed the rear seats so I could access the rear brakes and didn't put it back properly yet

-all trim and interior panels and door cards present

-aluminium body work in good condition with 2 minor dents and only on repair on passengers side front wing. the car must have been previously painted with a paint that doesn't like sticking to aluminium so its started flaking off in large chunks but the metal is fine so large areas of primer are visible!

-all glass in good condition

-brake disks seem good

-chassis is very good

-diff good

-very good aluminium fuel tank

-bumpers are straight with very small “dings”. easily rechromable

-stainless exhaust system currently fitted looks good

-all lights and warning lights/lenses are present and good

-all switches have been tested and seem to work. even the selectaride!

-brake servos look good. they were probably the last part to get replaced on the car by the previous owner

-new oil cooler from puddleduck aston martin

-new AVO fully adjustable aluminium cnc shock absorbers

- the keys are all there and the locks and ignition switch all work

-tires all hold air well so good to keep on during the resto/ transport

-has original radiator

-power steering pump with resevoir

-good radiomobile 8 track player

-original fire extinguisher and bracket! Still works!

- dbs badge rechromed

- spare fuse box

there is still a lot of work with this car but I feel that I have already bought all of the major parts for this car. a great project for someone to finish. especially when you can consider that the price of this hand built aluminium car can be compared to a steel bodied mass produced mustang! this car has rust. please don't expect a show car!

I have listed the SVT cobra engine and manual and automatic transmissions separately. see my other items.

I chose to use this engine as its powerful and reliable and of a better build quality than any of the ls series Chevrolet engines. the reason that more people don't use them so much in engine swaps is that they are so large that there are very few cars that they can fit in. with the dbs engine compartment it fits perfectly!
